Interviews: Glance Of Medusa

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Glance Of Medusa, from Greece. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It just came out like that. We were just looking for a name and we thought Glance of Medusa sounded cool, so we decided to keep it.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Back in 2011, when the idea of creating a band first came up, this type of music was the one we'd listen and enjoy the most. So we found each other and we formed Glance of Medusa.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No.Steve (vocals) searched through Facebook for musicians to make it happen and we got to know each other.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Nick (Guitar) - Gojira

John (Guitar) - Tool

Chris (Drums) - Rage Against the Machine

Alex (Bass) - Architects

Steve (Vocals) - The Devil Wears Prada

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Everything. Sometimes it would be a random idea but most of the times is just how we feel at the time, music and lyric wise. It's pure emotions, personal thoughts or real life experiences.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was back in December 27th 2018 at Santacore Is Coming to Breakdown, a local festival that happens every year near Christmas. Since then we focused on our debut album and now that it's ready we can't wait for the release show and play together again.

7. Where would you like to act?

We believe that the right answer is everywhere around the world. It would be awesome if we had the chance someday to move away from our hometown for a while and travel the world playing our music. You know it's kind of a dream for us and we hope to achieve it step by step in the future.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Realistically speaking it would be cool with bands of the same genre. But let's be real, each of us with his favorite bands. So individually the answer's there.

9. Whom not?

There's no such band that we dislike that much that we wouldn't like to feature with.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

All more or less, especially the first time that each of us hit the stage. Some after all these years still carrying this burden for the first couple minutes at every gig. But we would recommend to just stay cool. We know it's a bit of a cliche but if you're well rehearsed, once you hit the stage every fright or anxiety magically dissapears. Just remember to go out there and enjoy the whole process.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

When we first started we really looked up to bands like Motionless in White, The Word Alive, We Came as Romans and that kind of stuff. But right now our influences as individuals differ as you can see from our favorite bands too. All of us have something different to give in this band and piece by piece we create something new together and we think that the upcoming album proves this.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Honestly, an autograph. We know it's something very common for the big ones but for a local band like us, first time that happened was weird but at the same time amazing.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are everything. We love the interaction we have, on socials or in a gig, and we appreciate them more than anything.

14. What do you think of our site?

First we need more sites like this. It's very cool that you guys support and promote bands from all over the world. You do a very good job and it's very helpful especially for the small local bands SO TO come to the surface and it's something we are very grateful for.

15. Something to add?

Thank you so much for having us, we appreciate it. Our brand new single "Complexion" off our upcoming and debut album "Solitude" is out now, so give it a spin and share your thoughts with us. https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/glanceofmedusa/complexion
