Interviews: Renascentia

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore/Djent band Renascentia, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We were trying to come up with a band name and found the word “Renascentia”. It means ‘rebirth’ in Latin and we thought it was a good fit, as this band is kind of like a reincarnation of Elijah and PJ’s previous band.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Most of us grew up listening to this kind of music; enjoying the musicality, rhythms, and intense emotional themes. We also think there’s a lot of room for innovation still!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

PJ and Elijah knew each other from school before the band was formed and Aaron has been a friend of the band for a couple of years before joining. Rick and Adam did not know us before joining the band.

4. Each band member favourite band?

PJ - Veil of Maya

Rick - Between The Buried and Me

Aaron - A Day To Remember

Adam - Arsonists Get All The Girls

Elijah - Dance Gavin Dance

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Our songs are mostly inspired by real life situations and the world we see around us. We also pick up a lot of inspiration from other bands and artists.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last show was in Portland with Scarlett O’Hara, Sleep Waker, and Somewhere To Call Home.

7. Where would you like to perform?

Some kind of big festival for heavy music would be awesome. Aaron specifically wants to perform at Red Rocks Amphitheater.

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

There’s so many bands we would love to perform with. A couple that we really want to play with are Of Mice & Men, Thy Art Is Murder, Periphery, Veil of Maya, and Chelsea Grin.

9. Whom not?

We wouldn’t want to play with any bands that use their music to promote hate or fear. Also, we’re not big fans of Trapt.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I think we all have stage fright every now and then, especially when there’s a big crowd. The best tip we can give for stage fright is to just practice and make sure you know what you’re doing on stage. If you know the material and you’re completely prepared, you’ve got nothing to worry about!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Northlane, Periphery, Iron Maiden, Thy Art Is Murder, As I Lay Dying, and Dream Theater are a few.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We haven’t had a lot of fans ask for weird stuff from us, but Adam has had someone ask to sign their butt.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love our fans, of course! Our fans are the lifeblood of the band and we will always be grateful for the love and support we receive.

14. What do you think of our site?

Breathing The Core seems like a great place for fans of heavy music to learn about new music and artists. It’s a great platform to support the scene!

15. Something to add?

We would just like to say thank you to anyone who might be reading this and thank you to everyone who has been supporting us by interacting with us on social media, buying merchandise, streaming our music, etc! We just put out a new EP on 3/20/20 called “Dead Reflections”, so feel free to check that out if you’re interested!
