Interviews: Seasons

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Seasons from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Kent Stewart: The idea behind the band name has joked around a bit. Our former guitarist Matty G said he saw it on a sign and brought it up one day in our group chat. For me personally, Seasons means that life is ever-changing and it holds a deeper meaning. I’m a lyricist so I also found my own meaning in it.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Kent Stewart: I think for all of us it just comes naturally. When we were growing up there was a lot going on with the metal scene. Bands like Slipknot, Killswitch Engage, A Day To Remember, Sevendust, As I Lay Dying, just to name a few of my personal favorites, were paving the way. We grew up with the style and we want to add our blend to the already overflowing cup, so to speak.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Kent Stewart: Besides Nick and Mark, we all knew each other prior to Seasons. A few of us were in other bands together long before Seasons was ever thought of.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Matt Poe – Sevendust

Kent Stewart – Slipknot

Mark Spivey – Attila

Nick Gober - Keller - Led Zeppelin

Randall Sykes - AC/DC

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Kent Stewart: For me personally, I am a very emotionally driven person. I write from experience so when I write, it all comes from the heart. I can say from what I've seen and heard, my guys all have a massive passion for music. You can hear it in our music.

6. Where was your last gig?

Kent Stewart: Our last gig was at Riffhouse Pub in Chesapeake, VA. We opened for Gabriel and the Apocalypse and FLAW. It was a really great show, met a lot of good people.

7. Where would you like to act?

Kent Stewart: We want to play anywhere and everywhere, but more specifically I would love to play the Norva in Norfolk, VA.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Kent Stewart: I think we would all lose our minds if we were asked to open for Motionless in White. I think we all equally have a love for that band!

9. Whom not?

Kent Stewart: We opened for Trapt once and I don’t think we want to have much to do with those guys again. Regardless of the drama on Twitter, which also doesn't help their case.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Kent Stewart: We all did at first. I can only speak for myself. At first my left leg would shake uncontrollably. It would move up my left side and then my hand would start to shake. I eventually ended up putting the mic in that hand to trick myself into thinking it was important to use that hand so the shaking would stop. After the first few songs, it would go away completely. Now I have adopted a training technique I used while learning Systema. I calm myself down by walking in a circle and breathing in for 2 steps and out for 2 steps, and as I walked I would breathe in for 3 and out for 3. All of that and stretching! Anything to relax my body. As far as my mind, I would tell myself this show is going to be awesome! You know what you need to do! I would go over our setlist in my head and repeat it to myself to get more focused on the show rather than my fears. It’s all about your mindset at the end of the day.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Kent Stewart: A Day to Remember, Slipknot, All That Remains, Alice In Chains, Linkin Park, and Attila have all impacted us and helped us through some shit. We try not to sound anything like those who have inspired us but if you ever hear hints of something just know it profoundly hit us in the souls and it is very important to us. We love music!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Kent Stewart: I really can’t think of anything that’s been weird. Our fans are pretty rad.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Kent Stewart: I think they are amazing! We have had the best support in our home town and abroad. Everyone who counts themselves as fans knows we love them dearly.

14. What do you think of our site?

Kent Stewart: I think what you guys do for bands is absolutely amazing! We are so glad to be InTouch with you and doing this interview. We can’t thank you enough.

15. Something to add?

Kent Stewart: Thank you so much for the opportunity to do this interview. Anyone who likes what they hear, please be sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Patreon!
