Interviews: Desource

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Progressive Metalcore band, Desource, from Italy. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

First, we were called MY SWEET NIGHTMARE when we were just kids, then we came up with DESOURCE after I (Edoardo) came up with THE SOURCE, which means God. The name was invented by me and Jack (2nd lead guitarist) and it means that everything comes, speaks and returns to the "source", meaning God. The "De" is coming from Latin Language.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We don't have a specific genre right now, we like to experiment very much into our songs, as you can listen by the first singles that came out recently. We want to play with that has both "brain" and "heart", meaning both the technical side and the heartfelt riffs and melodies. I believe we have a great balance.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes of course, we are all long time friends.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Flavio, the bassist, loves technical death metal bands such as Cytotoxin, Hate, Behemoth, Archspire; Iuri loves both Pop music such as Damien Rice and Jeff Buckley, Jack loves basically everything which is clever and heavy such as Meshuggah and SiKth, while my top 3 favorite bands now are Tool, Periphery and Abiogenesis.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life, experiences, struggles, history, philosophy, basically everything.

6. Where was your last gig?

I believe it was in Perugia, some years ago.

7. Where would you like to act?

Northern Europe would be crazy good.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Maynard James Keenan, Micheal from Opeth, Fredrik Thordendal, too many others.

9. Whom not?

Trap dudes ahahahah

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Nobody had such a thing in our career. We are stage animals! I believe the best thing to avoid is to visualize the show before it happens.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Killswitch Engage in the beginning, Periphery, Architects, Misery Signals, Tool, Meshuggah, SiKth, Nasum also, and many others now.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To come on stage to sing our songs with us.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are amazing!

14. What do you think of our site?

Incredibly Good!

15. Something add?

Make sure to check out "Ambition" when it comes out! Peace!
