Interviews: Imperial Skies

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Hardcore/Metalcore band, Imperial Skies, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We had a very hard time agreeing on a name. May have gone through hundreds of band names and ideas... Imperial Skies was only name we all agreed on.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We have been in love with metal and knew we wanted to play metal-based since 2005 when we heard Bullet For My Valentine's The Poison and went to see them live. It was a game-changer for us.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, Bryan and Caleb went to High School together. Ryan is Bryan's Uncle. All 3 of us were in a band from 2006 - 2009 called Far From Phoenix.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Caleb: Anberlin

Ryan: Underoath

Bryan: Van Halen

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Everything from Love to Death. Our children and our spouses. The world around us. Life experiences.

6. Where was your last gig?

The last gig we played together was in our original band back in 2008... but we have a gig scheduled for July 25th 2020. It will kick off our live shows again.

7. Where would you like to act?

Los Angeles, Japan, Australia, or Norway

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Erra, As I Lay Dying, or A Day to Remember.

9. Whom not?

We play well with just about everyone.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes! Just be as prepared as possible so you do not have to worry about the performance. Find a focal point in the room and lock in to it. Once you perform a few times, it will shake out of your system.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

We draw inspiration from a wide range of different artists, genres, and music types. Perhaps some biggest musical inspirations would be Van Halen, As I Lay Dying, Def Leppard, Hans Zimmer, Bullet for My Valentine, Funeral For a Friend, Polaris, and Burden of a Day.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

For money to help pay his rent.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We absolutely love our fans! They inspire us and help motivate us to push forward and keep making music.

14. What do you think of our site?

Very professional. I love and appreciate that it covers a wide range of music and artists.

15. Something add?

We write, record, and produce 100% of our music. We have a new album coming out in July! Stay tuned. Any other questions or need anything else from us, do not hesitate to let us know. Thank you very much!!
