Interviews: Rebel Priest

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock N Roll band, Rebel Priest, from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Ahh, band names, always the hardest part of forming a new band haha. We collectively came up with dozens (likely hundreds) of mostly terrible names; too which we narrowed it down to something like 10 finalists, and of course no one agreed on a favourite. So, we simply picked the one we all hated the least! haha
2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We all enjoy rock n roll and heavy music, so we just blend in the sounds we like and get the concoction we call Rebel Priest 3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? Yeah, we’d each played together in separate bands prior to this one. It was a logical progression the three of us ending up in a band together, works damn good though!

4. Each band member favorite band?

Oh man, pick just one?? Mötley Crüe & Guns N’ Roses were huge for me as a kid, but now as I’ve grown up more finding a “favorite” band is next to impossible!

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Lots of artists I find myself listening to always creep into your style and playing/writing. I’m not a huge lyricist myself so I tend to think more on the musical side of things, but when I do get pen to paper it tends to be life-related or an attempt at telling a story. I love it when a song can tell a story.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig? PRE CORONAVIRUS!!! yup, the lockdown got us too, so I gotta think back a bit here. I believe back in January or so, we probably did Pub340 or something similar.

7. Where would you like to act?

We’d love to keep expanding to other countries! we had an amazing tour in Japan last year that's only encouraged us to return and go elsewhere, opening up more of Asia (Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc) as well as getting over too Europe and down to South America. A band can dream right?!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

So many great bands out there to play with! I bet all the guys have a few they’d truly LOVE to play with, but for me, I think it would have to be one of the last legends. Someone like Alice Cooper? or .. maybe ZZ Top, that’d be cool, dual three pieces!

9. Whom not?

Hahaha, are you asking us to be mean??

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Rarely myself, maybe when I was younger… or if It’s a big crowd/new experience, but overall it's just something you push through. You're out there to have fun, that’d shouldn’t be an intimidating experience; go out there, make some noise! dance around, kick some shit over! it's rock n roll!!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

I feel our band takes some heavy inspiration from bands like Mötorhead, W.A.S.P, Mötley Crüe, AC/DC, Hanoi Rocks amongst others. I wonder what the guys will say.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for? Weirdest fan request?

That’d be either, asking to sign random and often private body parts haha or when a fan asks to help load gear. That one always baffles me, loading gear is the worst !!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are great!! we couldn’t do what we do without em, or at least not nearly the same way.

14. What do you think of our site?

You guys rock!

15. Something add?

Keep looking for new music, sites like this are great for exposing potentially wicked stuff you’d never have heard otherwise!! keep your mind open and just let your ears do the rest!
