Interviews: Saints Of Death

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the  Metal band, Saints Of Death, from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We based it off of the Mexican folk-lore Sante Meurte. There was a band in Mexico with that name, so we named our band Saints of Death. 2.Why did you want to play this genre? We're metalheads. It's the soundtrack of our lives. We live and breathe metal so really it was a no brainer to play this genre.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yea, for sure. We all knew each other in different ways through the music industry. Ash and Twan go back 20 years, Chris had toured with Twan's bands in the past. Juan used to jam with another band across the hall to our room in the jam space. It took us a little while to really find the right guys, but when we finally came together everything really fell into place.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Tough question! We all listen to so many different types of music so hard to narrow it down. If Twan had to pick two bands to listen too for the rest of his life he would have to pick Motorhead and Judas Priest. Ash's favourites are Dimmu Borgir and Dead Kennedy's. Chris listens to lots of rock and roll like The Hellacopters and Turbonegro, as well as stuff like Behemoth and Belphagor. Juan has been delving deep into the New Kids On The Block catalogue and reliving his younger years (just kidding haha, he’s not here to answer his).

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life man, everything that's going on in the world around us. The news, media, movies, books. All these things influence the stuff we wrote about in our music.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last show was on Jan 24th at the Rickshaw Theatre in our home town of Vancouver, Canada.

7. Where would you like to act?

We would like to tour in Europe, we are hoping to get over there in 2021. We'd like to go to Japan and see what things are like over there. We've been doing lots of touring in Mexico and would like to continue moving more south into Central or South America. We'd like to get on some more big festivals, maybe play Wacken, Rock al Parque, Sweden Rocks, Hellfest, and other big festivals.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Any of the top tier touring metal bands. Slipknot, Lamb of God, Gojira, Behemoth, Amon Amarth, Testament, Exodus. So many, any of the big 4. We work hard to make sure our production is always evolving and growing and want to share the stage with any bands that are really bringing something more to their performance.

9. Whom not?

We'll play with anyone realistically. Any time, anywhere.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

No, not really. Twan gets a little nervous sometimes when he's looking out at a sea of 15,000 people at some of the festivals. Mostly we just get a big adrenaline rush and anticipate getting out there and crushing some faces. As far as tips for beginners go, just practice really hard and prepare yourself properly. Other than that, just take a deep breath and get out there and blast their faces off. Enjoy every minute of it.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

It would take a whole website to list all the bands that have inspired us. Mostly bands that have always been about larger production like Alice Cooper, Kiss, Rob Zombie, Slipknot etc.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

There has been all sorts of crazy things for sure, but the craziest... Chris had a guy in Mexico once, ask him to sleep with his girlfriend, he said he didn't mind.. that was a bit absurd but a nice gesture none the less (Chris politely declined). Ash once held a fan's literally one-day-old baby (in full warpaint) for a picture. It was one day old, and already at a metal festival. One time, we played a city in Mexico and a fan was literally shaking and crying when she got to meet us after the show. That one isn't as crazy as some of the other stories, but it def. made us stop and think.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love our fans, every Soldier of Metal that comes out and supports us on tour. All the people that buy our records, and blast our tunes. They are the blood that keeps this band alive. Without our loyal fans, we wouldn't to do the things we love most, playing live.

14. What do you think of our site?

The website is awesome. It's a useful site for finding new music and all sorts of other cool things.

15. Something add?
