Interviews: Decent News

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock band, Decent News, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

When we were choosing our name we had about 75 names on a list and then we narrowed it down from there Round Robin Style. The final names were Decent News and A Few Boys.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We always liked playing around with synthesizers. At the end of 2017 our drummer couldn’t practice with us because he was going back to school for the semester so We picked up a Roland MV-8000 and started sequencing drums and synth for practice and it stuck.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We’ve been buddies since freshman year of high school back in 2009.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Caleb: Skid Row

Eddie: Skid Row

Laken: Skid Row

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Each other honestly. We have so much fun working on music together and we keep each other going.

6. Where was your last gig?

Fete Music Hall in Providence Rhode Island back in October. We opened for Abbey Death and it was a really fun show. We had alot of shows planned for this year but then COVID hit.

7. Where would you like to act?

Realistically, The Palladium in Worcester Massachusetts would be awesome. Considering all of us have been going there since we were in our teens.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Anyone that’ll have us but more specifically Street Sects.

9. Whom not?

I can’t think of anyone specifically. We’ll mostly play with anyone.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I always get a little stage fright before we go on. The best way to cope with it is just barreling through it. Usually 1 minute into our set the stage fright goes away.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Probably, Megadeth, Big Black, Melvins and Rammstein.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

One of our synth stands is the lower half of a mannequin. His name is Bruce and fans usually ask to touch his ass, which isn’t too weird. I usually pat his bulge for good luck.

13. What do you think of your fans?

A year ago I would’ve said “What Fans?” but since our last album I’m seeing more return customers that keep giving us money for some reason. Which is great considering most of our music is free.

14. What do you think of our site?

I Just checked it out. It’s very well organized.

15. Something add?

Thank you for having us. Anyone who’s reading this should check out our latest releases since you’ll probably enjoy them if you’re on this site.
