Interviews: Vokodlok

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Black Metal band, Vokodlok, from the Romania. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We wanted the name to reflect one of the main theme in our songs which are myths and their influence on humanity. The name derives from the Slavonic word 'vukodlak' which means werewolf. There was already a Black Metal band with that name, so we chose a different form.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We think that the instrumentation and the screaming vocals combined with the dark and nihilistic dark lyrics which are a contradiction to the societies and religions ideas creates an atmosphere where we can express ourselves.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I was pretty acquainted with the bassist Blestemat from the beginning, since he is my brother. The other members joined and left along the way until only Ghiaur and Urmuz remained to continue the journey.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Well, it's hard to point a specific band, I can say we like a lot of bands. But to name just a few:

Ghiaur - Mayhem, Shining, Nile, Anaal Nathrakh

Urmuz – Marduk, Belphegor, Urgehal, Mercyful Fate

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Inspirations comes from different, often common, sources and situations like walking in the woods, having a nightmare, listening to music and when jamming on guitar. Also, when channeling your desire of strangling someone that pisses you off into making good riffs :)

6. Where was your last gig?

Vokodlok's last performance was a long, long time ago in Bucharest sometime in October of 2008. We plan in doing live shows to promote our next album which is planned to be released autumn 2021 or latest in the spring of 2022.

7. Where would you like to act?

We would like to perform on stage everywhere but small locations have a special atmosphere because the energy and connection with the public are more powerful.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Mayhem or Emperor

9. Whom not?

They know who they are.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

That usually happens, of course, in the beginning, but it should be treated as a challenge and a method to train self-control and even turn it into a funny moment. Or simply follow the good old advice: imagine that everyone in the audience are naked. :)

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

I would say Mayhem, Immortal, Burzum and Nile.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A fan asked me once to give him my guitar.

13. What do you think of your fans?

The metal genre in general has a great fan-base! We get a lot of support and feedback from our fans.

14. What do you think of our site?

It features a lot of info and news about many bands in all metal genres providing great support for the underground scene.

15. Something add?

Stay tuned 'cause more is coming! Thank you for your support!
