Emptiness is everywhere, both on an emotional level and also physically. There is an emotional feeling of emptiness, that life has no real meaning or purpose. But space is empty too. From an atom being mostly empty space to the vast emptiness between stars and galaxies, the universe is empty. In some ways they are linked. In the whole of the universe, everything is nothing, including our lives. I didn’t want a cover that was just black of course, so having a person who was ethereal, or somewhat hollow whisking away into the vastness of space worked well. Eventually everything in the universe will die. As a quick antidote, you can be depressed about it or you can use it to say fuck it, nothing matters, just try to enjoy life.
