Interviews: CHASER

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the  Melodic Skate Punk band, CHASER, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name?

At a party in high school, taking about band names. We talked about “No Chaser”, but settled on just “CHASER”.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We all grew up listening to melodic punk and hardcore music and going to those shows so picking up instruments and playing the type of music we loved and writing our own songs was always very appealing.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

The original members of the band did. Jesse joined in 2006. Davey was a fill-in drummer on multiple tours, ultimately joining the band around 2013. And Bill joined in 2016.

4. Each band member’s favourite band?

Mike: Pennywise

Jesse: Face to Face

Bill: Bad Religion

Davey: Ignite, Strike Anywhere and Backstreet Boys (because it was too hard to pick only one)

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

A lot of different things. Often it starts with a particular melody, other times with a guitar riff. Lyrics are usually written and solidified later in the process.

6. Where was your last gig?

In Big Bear, California with Pennywise.

7. Where would you like to perform?

South America, Japan, Australia.

8. Whom would you like to tour with and why?

All of our favorite bands mentioned above haha. And so many others. Too many to mention.

9. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I would describe it as more of a nervous energy. We all embrace it and feed off it. It really essential to our performance. It helps us deliver the show the audience deserves. So I would recommend anyone just starting out to use that pre-show nervousness to your advantage if you can. It’s totally normal and can be a great thing.

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

All the bands mentioned earlier along with Good Riddance, Agnostic Front, Anti-Flag, Less Than Jake, Strung Out, NOFX, etc. Their longevity and persistence is to be admired.

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you?

Haha, nothing that stands out.

12. What do you think of your fans?

So much love and appreciation for our fans. Their enthusiasm for our music is humbling. Honestly, we actually think of them more as friends. Whether you’re in a band or not, we all just have a passion for the same type of music and exist on the same plane. We are all big fans of so many bands as well!

13. Anything else you want to add?

Thanks for taking the time to read this and for checking out our music. Take care of yourselves and each other during this difficult time. We’ll be releasing a bunch of new material this year and next and we’re planning tours for summer 2021 as we speak so hope to see ya at a show!
