Interviews: Kosmogonia

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the  Folk Metal/Death Metal band, Kosmogonia, from Greece. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band’s name derives from the Greek word κοσμογονία (cosmogony= birth of the world). It’s about a deep cosmic attraction that symbolizes the birth of the universe and its living beings. It also symbolizes the birth of harmony and causality of godly creation, which is of great importance for paganism, our source of inspiration.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

For us, folk metal is much more than a genre of metal music, it’s our way to look back at our nation’s glorious past as well as the past of other ancient civilizations and create a journey through the centuries using our music and convey values that apply even to our times.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Before the creation of Kosmogonia we were complete strangers but now we’ve formed a very strong team and become great co-workers who strive every day to better both themselves and the team.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Kostas: Eluveitie Maya: Therion Ismini: Eluveitie Odysseus: Dimmu Borgir Mitsos: King Diamond Spyros: Powerwolf

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Our music is inspired by ancient Greece’s long history as well as European history, mythology in general and ancient epic battles. In addition to that, our songs travel through the known and unknown realms of ancient European paganism and other ancient European religions.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last live took place at a local festival in Athens, our city. Right now, we wait for the corona virus pandemic that has caused so much pain worldwide to come to an end, so that we can reconnect with our fans.

7. Where would you like to act?

Our first thing to our agenda is to present our first album, Enthrone the gods, live to as many European festivals as possible.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

At some point, we would like to work with famous folk metal bands such as Eluveitie, Ensiferium, Amon amarth etc.

9. Whom not?

We are open to any cooperation as long as there is common respect.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

No, actually it’s quite the opposite. We feel comfortable on stage and it’s really moving to be able to share our work with so many people. For the ones who are just getting started the best advise is to be themselves and enjoy what they’re doing on stage free of negative thoughts and anxiety.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Our work is undoubtedly influenced by great folk metal bands such as Eluveitie, Ensiferium, Arkona, Amon amarth etc, however we have our own unique character which follows mostly the Greek and Balkan style.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Luckily, up until now we don’t have any negative experiences. Of course, there are heated reactions from some fans but nothing major.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans stand always by our side and support us and we are really grateful for that. We have fans from many countries even though we have just released our first album and we hope to meet them at one of our future lives.

14. What do you think of our site?

You’re doing a great job and we are sure to support you as Kosmogonia and hopefully bring more people to visit your site.

15. Something add?

We hope that the co-vid pandemic ends soon so we can travel and be close to our fans. Lastly, we would like to thank once more all those who support us in every way possible.
