Interviews: Satellite Citi

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the  Alternative Rock band, Satellite Citi, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name?

Our band name came from the idea of a city where people communicated with one another telepathically, using their satellite minds.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Rock has always been the genre we gravitated towards growing up. I’ve definitely dabble in other genres when it comes to playing drums. I really enjoy drumming to hip-hop and I grew up studying jazz but when it came to songwriting, Rock was always the genre we would naturally write.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we were together before forming the band. At the time we were both working on our own projects and then after a couple years we started writing together.

4. Each band member’s favourite band?

My favorite band would probably be Nirvana, although it’s hard to choose just one. Shaun's favorite band is Tool.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life inspires me. Living and experiencing things gets the gears in my head turning. The way I release my thoughts and emotions are through songwriting.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at The Whisky-A-Go-Go in West Hollywood on 1/15 supporting The Warning.

7. Where would you like to perform?

Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado. We’ve actually never attended a show there but it looks absolutely beautiful and we would love to play there one day.

8. Whom would you like to tour with and why?

Royal Blood would be a fun band to tour. We love their music and feel like we’d have good chemistry with them on tour.

9. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I was definitely nervous our first year of gigging. Being the front-woman and singing & drumming, felt very daunting at the time. I honestly think the way I overcome it was just doing it so much where it felt natural. You stop noticing the size of the crowd and you focus on playing and having fun.

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

I’ll combine both of ours together - we’re inspired by so many bands and artists but Tool, Nirvana, Muse, Elliott Smith, System of a Down, to name a few.

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked of you?

It’s not really an ask but we’ve had a fan steal a CD and run off. If they told us they couldn’t afford it, we definitely would’ve given it for free, but we thought that was pretty funny.

12. What do you think of your fans?

We love and appreciate our fans so much. From the one’s who have been with us from the very beginning to the one’s who are just discovering us. It means so much to us to get our music heard by so many different types of people around the world. Nothing makes us happier than sending a piece of merch out to someone across the country. We’re so thankful for them.

13. Anything else you want to add?

We just released our new single and music video, “Black Magic,” off our upcoming record, ‘Fear Tactics,’ Produced by Brad Wood. If you guys haven’t heard it yet please go stream it, buy it, share it. Everything helps right now during these crazy times.
