Interviews: Wings Of Destiny

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the  Power Metal band, Wings Of Destiny, from Costa Rica. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The bandname was chosen as Destiny due to the meaning of it, it is our destiny to play music and carry it to the followers. That name was modified from original Destiny to Wings of Destiny due to the existance of the swedish band under the same name in 2013, so now we are being carried on the wings of destiny to fullfil our dreams.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

This genre and our particular style is a maximum expresion of emotion, virtuosity, including melodical, classical component and grove. We are metlheads and we play music that is not being played on the radio its not a mainstream on mass media, nevertheless it is very popular in Metal and we need it in our life. Through time we have developed our own style, influenced at first by creators of the genre such as Helloween, Symfony X, Rhapsody of Fire, Manowar, etc. and taken to another level.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

The band had a lot of formations and line ups, at first it was formed by group of friends and than it evolved in a professional band with professional musicians, so yes, we knew each other when we formed Wings of Destiny but after several line up changes we gained new friends.

4. Each band member favourite band?

We all listen to a vast variety of musical artists, styles, bands, etc. Our interests go from the classical music (Tchaikovsky, Rahmaninov, Bethoven, Wagner, Bach, Mozart, Hyden, Schuman, Chopin) and up to all kind of metal, rock, grunge, pop and alternative artists.... Of course such classics as Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Black Sabbath, Abba, even Metallica are all influences also, besides artists of the same or similar genre such as Dream Theater, Symfony X, Helloween, Masterplan, Blind Guardian...

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Our Life. We write about life, mysteries of life, some religious concepts (angels & demons), good and bad, romantic, heroic and sometimes even ugly things in life can be inspiring to express your self.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was in Costa Rica (our hometown) after tours and many international appearances we played a show with Timo Tolkki in Costa Rica, followed by a show with Mike Vescera doing some Yngwie Malmsteen tunes with special guests.

7. Where would you like to act?

We hope, when the pandemic is somehow solved or sorted out, to play in Brasil, Japan and Italy – we have a cult following in those countries and we want to take our show and music there as soon as possible.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We have shared with so many different artists already in production and live shows that there are no specific names to be mentioned. We love doing this and collaborating, we are absolutely open to feature or collaborate with artists of the genre. Of course, we hope to be able to share the stage with Helloween, Symfony X or other artists that somehow influenced us and are a certain mark of quality in this style of music, so it allows to step up our thing..... This list is very big, there are so many great artists and bands out there, so hopefully, we get further and get a chance to work with as many of those as we can... we are ready.

9. Whom not?

Mmmmmm, good one, we keep it private 😉 ...

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We are all professional musicians by now, so there is no stage fright for us... We are always happy and excited to share stage with our audience. On the other hand, as a tip for beginners, you must always remember why you do it... if it`s something you do for love of art, you have to concentrate on that and leave all the insecurities behind, don`t listen to destructive critics, be yourself and everything will be all right, your fears will disappear... (just try to do that for instance and you will see). You have to be always very honest with your audience and your art, so this kind of things they usually fade once you are on stage.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

This was already answered above... but to add bands that are REALLY inspiring through time – Deep Purple (once again), AC/DC or Rolling Stones, these guys are just about rock`n`roll, they are rock`n`roll titans and example to us.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

hahaha there were a lot of things that could be classified by some people as weird stuff (like asking to have part of your clothes, touch you or signing body parts) but to be honest with you - our fans are great! And for us it`s all good.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are everything to us. Thanks to them we exist. They are our motor, our inspiration and driving force! Together we are strong and we rock!

14. What do you think of our site?

You are doing great job, supporting music artists. So hail to you guys and thanks for carrying.

15. Something add?

Stay metal, don`t ever back down on your dreams & be yourself. We love you all and we`ll see each other soon!
