Interviews: Ghost Arcadia

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock band, Ghost Arcadia, from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We were throwing a few ideas around; originally they were two different names that we sort of mashed together. Reu is a huge fan of ancient history and especially Greek and Roman mythologies. He likes the old myths of Arcadia and how it was this idyllic wilderness ruled by Pan (god of the wild), untouched by the real world. I think the juxtaposition of the ‘Ghost’ works really well as I often describe our sound as “hauntingly epic”. So Ghost (Death), Arcadia (Life).

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

In the least pretentious way possible, we try not to let a genre define us. We have so many influences (musical and non musical) and use every impetus we can to write what inspires us in that given moment.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Reu and Ant trained as actors with a close childhood friend of Ali’s. We got Adam through an ad we posted on a band finding website!

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Reu - I fleet between artists so much it’s hard to pick. I’ve always been a massive fan of Foo Fighters though!

Ant - Enter Shikari, for their brute force and lyrics.

Adam - Guns ’N’ Roses, Axl Rose and Slash…what more can he say?

Ali - Blink 182, for the nostalgia and Travis is a god!

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I think with music it’s that ability to be able to affect people on such an intimate level, and the challenge of uniting our singular voices into one that hasn’t been heard before.

6. Where was your last gig?

Nambucca, Upper Holloway, London

7. Where would you like to play?

Ally freaking Pally! (Although we wouldn’t put our nose up at anything right now…)

8. Who would you like to support?

Enter Shikari or Boston Manor (Again…probably wouldn’t say no to anyone though)

9. Who not?

Beggars can’t be choosers and we’re a pretty friendly bunch. We’d probably be up for supporting anyone under the right circumstances! We’d probably question a Little Mix support slot but let’s be honest…we’d probably still do it!

10. Any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Reu used to suffer majorly (he still does a little to this day!). He says there is no quick fix but to stick with it, practise makes perfect. A good technique he used is to ‘play’ a character. Pretend you are acting in a show as opposed to playing your music. Playing live music can often be quite an exposing experience so putting a character on can often dissociate yourself from that nakedness. Also, learn to love and embrace it, I think that’s the most important thing…turn that fear into joy! Right now especially we are missing the live music scene more than ever, and cherish every moment we get to be on that stage and do what we love! Anthony would like to mention that sometimes beer helps!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Bring Me The Horizon, Linkin Park, The Killers, Enter Shikari.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To come play a gig in another city…when we were in lockdown.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We fucking love every single one of them! Their love and support will never go unnoticed and we are hugely grateful for them. It’s less ‘fans’ here, and more FAMILY.

14. What do you think of our site?

Looks a little better with a bit of Ghost Arcadia on it!

15. Something to add?

A massive thank you to you guys for having us on your site, been a pleasure. As a DIY band we are used to sending a lot of emails and getting no response so are hugely grateful to any response and every opportunity we get. We will leave you with some links here:
