Interviews: I See Vultures

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Post-Hardcore band, I See Vultures, from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

DAN: The band name comes from some of the lyrics of one our first songs. It was about how the world is made up of many kinds of people, with the worst of them being like vultures. They pick apart those weaker - emotionally, financially and physically. I see these vultures everywhere and hate ‘em. It’s a name, sure, but it’s also a statement.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

DAN: We didn’t really go into this trying to be a specific genre. We just play the music we love. If it’s heavy, its heavy. You can hear from ‘Neversafe’ though, we’re not afraid to shift gear.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

DAN: We’ve all been criss-crossing each other’s paths for years, sharing the stage in separate bands, or playing together in bands. We all go back a long way.

4. Each band member favourite band?

DAN: That’s almost an impossible question. But for me, probably early AFI although I mainly listen to 80’s electro non-stop at the minute. I know Dave would probably say someone like Mars Volta. Hussein’s is Tom Waits, Jamie would Fall Of Troy and Mitch probably Soundgarden.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

DAN: As for the lyrics and themes, I’m inspired by things that are going on around us all the time, social, politically, personal, whatever’s pissing me off, or whatever I can’t stop thinking about.

6. Where was your last gig?

Dan: Covid screwed the first string of live shows for I See Vultures.

7. Where would you like to play?

DAN: Right now, I’d play on a merry-go-round if it meant we could play live.

8. Who would you like to support?

DAN: See previous answer. Right now I don’t care, anyone. Just give me a stage.

9. Who not?

DAN: That’s exactly the sort of question designed to come back and bite us in the arse.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

DAN: I guess I do, but I learnt to embrace the nerves. It means you care.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

DAN: Dave writes the songs and is directly influenced by Mars Volta and at the drive in, musically.

12. What do you think of your fans?

DAN: Right now, we’re building a great core support. We’re a new band, and are just flattered the people discovering us seem to be connecting with what we’re doing.

13. What do you think of our site?

DAN: Yeah its great, so much cool stuff here.

14. Something to add?

DAN: Appreciate it, the chat. And keep doing what you’re doing!
