Interviews: Boneyard

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock/Metal band, Boneyard, from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

In the beginning, while we were learning cover songs, one of our members listened to Sirius satellite radio a lot and noticed the Boneyard channel played most of the songs we did. We decided to use Boneyard as our name mainly for familiarity to the style of material we were covering. Once we started writing our own material, and headed in an all original direction, we kept the same name due to the following we had built up.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We grew up on classic rock, hard rock and metal. No other genre gives you the feeling of power and excitement like metal. There was never any doubt!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Some of Vocalist/ guitarist Pamtera's previous projects have included drummer Jeff Cunningham. Bassist Dennis Cooke auditioned for Boneyard about four years ago.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Pamtera- Annihilator

Jeff- Judas Priest

Dennis- Iron Maiden

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Mostly life experiences and things happening in the world today. We strive to write songs as good as our musical heroes. Riffs and melodies can pop into our heads at any time, or simply by jamming.

6. Where was your last gig?

A members only music club called the house of Seven in Edmonton.

7. Where would you like to perform?

Would love to perform outside of North America.

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

It would be cool to open for, or play a festival, with some of our favorites (Priest, Maiden, Annihilator, Doro, Lee Aaron, Nashville Pussy, etc).

9. Whom not?

Anyone not in our genre, or Nu-metal style bands.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Very little, maybe during the first song of the set. Just have the mindset you want to kick ass, and blow the other bands away!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Classic hard rock/ metal bands that we're able to keep the original members intact (King's X, ZZ Top, Rush- until Neil's death). Or, classic bands that are still out there touring and making new music (Saxon, Priest, Maiden) .

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To wear some of my leather clothing items.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Love them, and the great support they've given us, especially for this new album and video!

14. What do you think of our site?

Excellent, an amazing amount of content. The Behind The Artworks, and Tracks, features are very cool!

15. Something to add?

Checkout the new video for our first single Fates Warning: https://youtu.be/YhdsxiIYKPw Oathbreaker is now available on CD, digitally, and on vinyl (December). We also have new merchandise bundles on our website: www.boneyardrocks.ca Cheers!
