Interviews: Code Noir

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Heavy Metal/Rock band, Code Noir from Greece. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The idea came from brainstorming a name that would be equal parts cool and dark and abstract. After going through about 15-20 names Code Noir was born!

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Honestly, because it’s the music I’d like to listen to. For me a song has to have heavy, distorted guitar. It all starts there. Then you want to broaden the palette a bit, use different instruments, etc. However, none of that matters if the song isn’t relatable at some level. Sometime it’s the lyrics, sometimes it’s the music and, in the best circumstances, it’s both. We try to put all of that into a Code Noir song.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Adam and I go way back, about 20 years.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Neither of us have a favorite band, per se, and musically we’re into different things. However, we both like bands such as Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, etc. so there are enough common influences.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The music comes from jamming, just playing. Writing riffs and vocal melodies has always come easy to me, and often I’ll come up with stuff just playing on the acoustic guitar. Then that stuff gets the Code Noir treatment.

6. Where was your last gig?

Since Code Noir are a duo, it’s not really feasible to play live. For that reason, I’ll pass on questions

7. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I’ve had it a few times, particularly with regards to singing. A tip, huh? There’s this wonderful, legal drug called alcohol that does good things for stage fright, I’m told! Having a drink or two before you go onstage can help loosen you and take the edge off. But no more than that, otherwise your performance may suffer. Also, you definitely want to be able to experience all the emotions of playing live and not have them numbed by alcohol or drugs.

8. What bands have inspired you the most?

Metallica, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Savatage, and The Ramones

9. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To touch my hair, back when I had it long.

10. What do you think of your fans?

Well, you always feel a connection with your fans, don’t you?

That they dig your music, that they get what you’re trying to express with your songs.

14. What do you think of our site?

I think it rocks! It’s really cool that you feature bands from so many different genres of heavy music. The scene is lucky to have you!

15. Something add?

I hope that your readers will check us out and find our music enjoyable! Cheers!
