Interviews: GLASS WAVES

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock band, GLASS WAVES, from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Unfortunately, there is not an interesting story about how the band name came about, it was just a case of brainstorming and we came up with Glass Waves. Although it did take an age for us all to agree on it!

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We didn’t set out with a specific genre in mind. We all have different and varied influences, so it was a ‘let’s see what comes out’ vibe at the start which was pretty cool. Obviously, we had some idea of the ballpark we were going to be in, with a lot of rock, indie and pop influences, it worked out quite well, there's bits of every band members influence in there.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We’ve all known each other for quite a few years, being from North Wales and in bands, you tend to know everyone! Most of us have played together in other bands over the years before coming together to start this band.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Bryn - Foo Fighters / Don Broco / Linkin Park

Dewi - Nothing But Thieves / Queens of the Stone Age / Royal Blood

Tom - The Pale White / Sam Fender

Sion (Guitar) - Black Stone Cherry

Sion (Drums) - Foo Fighters / Lower than Atlantis

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

As cheesy as it sounds, it's just the love of music. Nothing beats that feeling of coming together, being creative and writing music, with the unknown factor of where it's going to take you.

6. Where was your last gig?

Being a new band, we haven't had the opportunity to play live yet due to COVID-19, but we can't wait to get out there and play as soon as we can.

7. Where would you like to play?

Anywhere! We just want to get out there and play our music. Big festivals are always the dream, and we would love to go over to the US to tour over there.

8. Who would you like to support?

Seeing as we're only just setting out as a band, we would be open to supporting anyone who would complement our style and could get us in front of the audience that would appreciate us. Saying that, it would be amazing to support the likes of Nothing But Thieves / Foo Fighters.

9. Who not?

There isn't really anyone we wouldn't consider supporting if it made sense for everyone, but we would categorically turn down anyone that encouraged racism, homophobic views or any kind of oppression.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I think it's normal to have some type of nerves before getting on stage, everyone has it, it's that weird nervous energy buzz, some of us enjoy it. Our bassist however, has suffered with stage fright on a few occasions to the point of vomiting before going on stage, but he still loves it! Tips for beginners would be to try and embrace the nerves and turn it into positive energy. Also, the better prepared you are, the less you have to be nervous about.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

We have so many bands that inspire us, but at the moment, i think the main influences are Nothing But Thieves / Queens Of The Stone Age / Don Broco / Foo Fighters.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Because of the short time we have been together, we haven't experienced anything weird from a fan. We look forward to all the weird and wonderful stuff to come from fans in the future hopefully!

13. What do you think of your fans?

We would like to thank everyone for their support so far, especially in the short time we've been going. It's a great feeling to know people are listening and enjoying the music we put out there.

14. What do you think of our site?

It's great! We really appreciate the opportunity and exposure a site like this can give us as a band, and it's a great place for people to discover new music. Keep it up!

15. Something to add?

Just a quick thanks from all of us for the interview.
