Interviews: EMPIRES

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock band, EMPIRES from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We batted around a lot of names. Almost went with Vampire Candy Crush (don't ask). There were so many. Even the name Empiires had many variations. I guess we just threw out names until one made sense.

2 . Why did you want to play this genre?

Rock has always spoken to my soul. There's a freedom in rock. You can sing about anything. You aren't restricted. Even when I was little, my dad would play music from all genres, but once he played Van Halen 1984, I was hooked. "I wanna do that!"

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I knew Darren from my days as a door guy. His band played there when I was starting a band. Years later he called me to sing for the Drew Pearson show. But I wonder if he forgot I was a rock singer. Because between takes I would mess around and sing songs from Nothing More or Creedence Clearwater Revival. They all looked at me in shock. I laughed a lot about that. Like dude, did you forget? After that we had to work together on a project. One year later and BOOM! EMPIIRES!

4. Each band member's favourite band?

A Perfect Circle. Really, anything Maynard does is life to me. He speaks to my soul. His words, the sounds they use. The depth. I listen to Tool, APC, and Pucifer daily. Although Gojira has been cutting into that lately.

5. Where would you like to perform?

The Collosseum in Rome! Not sure if anyone has played there or if it's allowed. But the historical importance of that place screams "ROCK" I mean gladiators, lions, etc. Epic location. Not sure about the sound there. But it would be so cool.

6. Whom would you like to tour with?

Oh, that's a hard one! So many awesome bands. That's a long list for me. Sevendust, Fire From The Gods, Corey Taylor, Shinedown, Avenge Sevenfold.

7. Whom not?

No one! We would take any opportunity that came along!

8. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Not really stage fright. More like a nervous/ anxious feeling. Waiting to go on can be torture. I want to give the fans everything I have. So i get hyped up and pace a lot before I go on. I just have to remember that this is me. And I can only be the best me I can be. As for others, remember this is your music. This is you. Give them everything you've got. Enjoy yourself. Enjoy the crowd. And above all else, have fun. P.S. loose yourself to the music a little. Feel your words and express them for the fans.

9. What bands have inspired you the most?

Incubus, Deftones, Incubus, Tool, Alice In Chains, Creedence Clearwater Revival, A Perfect Circle, Nothing More. They all have distinct sounds that begs to be cracked up to a thousand. Slow, mid tempo, or balls out rocking! They have it all.

10. What do you think of your fans?

They are amazing. They feed us such good energy. There is a genuine love amongst them that is unbelievable. They hang on every note. The power of their voices as they sing songs back pierces my soul. I feel everything they feel. At that moment we are one. They move us as much as we do them.

11. What do you think of our site?

I love the breakdown of bands by style. And you cover all of them. But most of all, I dig that you cover a large variety of bands from all over. If you're looking for something new, Breathing The Core is the spot.

12. Future plans?

Create and release new music and play all the shows we can!!

13. Something to add?

To all of my fellow rockers, keep pushing, keep rocking, stay blessed, and rock hard!
