Interviews: Silvered

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Doom Metal/Dark Metal band, Silvered from Italy. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Well, the band name derives from “Silvered Key” of the oneiric world created by H.P.Lovecraft.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Because We are sad people! Just kidding (maybe…). Most of us listens to a lot of doom-metal and We love to experiment and mix our personal influences.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No. The band started in 2007 and the only member who remained during the years is Daniele (vocals). We didn’t know each other before 2007.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Well, our favourite bands are Metallica, Testament and Inflames (expecially their early releases).

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We actually don’t have an unique source of inspiration. We just follow our feelings and our creative-workflow, when composing.

6. Where was your last gig?

So, our latest concert was an acoustic show. It took place on March, 9th at Officine Cantelmo in Lecce. It’s more than one year ago, it’s incredible!

7. Where would you like to act?

Nice question. We would like to play on great stages like Bloodstock, Wacken, Download Festival and other great situations, sharing the stage with bands we like.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We’re glad to say that we’re lucky, because we got exactly the guests we wanted to have on our record: Carmelo Orlando (vocals) and Fabio Fraschini (bass) from Novembre. Such an amazing italian metal band, we love them!

9. Whom not?

All the people who prefer lemon tea over the peach one.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Maybe the first live experiences, but not so much, to be honest. Sometimes I feel a light anxiety before playing on big stages, but it’s not the kind of anxiety that paralizes people, just the good one, the one that makes people give the best on stage. I teach guitar, too and I see different students O’ mine that feel nervous before play live. The tips I give them, usually, are to breathe slow, to concentrate on the breath, to imagine the public side as a fourth wall and lastly, to enjoy the show. Another suggestion I give to my students is to become familiar with the stage during the soundcheck. Playing on the stage without the audience can really help on getting more relaxed when performing the show.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Surely we take inspiration from Swallow the sun band (probably the doom metal band we like mostly). Then other influences are taken from band like Katatonia, Shining, My dying bride and Novembre (where Giuseppe (our guitarist) and Carlo (our drummer) play, too).

12. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Oh… Weird question... Maybe this question!

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love them! We write music not for other people, but just to give life to our creativity and to say what we wanto to say. The fact that people like our music is not our target, but give us strenght and joy!

14. What do you think of our site?

Very very cool, we like it and we recommend all metal lovers to visit it!

15. Something add?

Yes, we want to send a message to all music listeners: Unfortunately, since music streaming platforms started being the main way of listening music, the underground bands have lost their main profit source (i.e. selling of the physical copies of their music) and part of the "fuel" of their activity. Some music streaming platforms do not let the artists get the right reward and this made the musical activity so much difficult for artists. So we want to encourage all music listeners to support the artists (underground, but even mainstream) by buying their music and official merchandise and, where and when possible, by joining events (whether small gigs or big events).
