Interviews: Cellar Twins

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Rock band, Cellar Twins from Belgium. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

“Cellar Twins” comes from Jeff Sternon (guitarist) and Francesco Damanti (ex-drummer) who considered themselves as musical brothers, thus using the word “twins”. The word “cellar” comes from the fact that they were both rehearsing in a basement when they decided to create the band. Choosing a name was a huge brain grinder but we eventually stuck with "Cellar Twins”, it had a classy and enigmatic quality to it that we really liked.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Although we like different music genres, rock and metal are the only ones that seem to really deeply connect to us. It’s hard to describe… It just feels real and authentic. Somehow everything we love about music converges to it. It’s a raw gut feeling.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Jeff and Francesco knew each other from a previous project, but that’s it. We met each other through the band.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Jeff: Alter Bridge

Elodie: Bring me the horizon

Carl: Avenged Sevenfold

David: Devin Townsend

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Usually, Jeff creates a guitar riff and brings it to us. Then when it comes to lyrics Carl and Jeff write about personal conflicts and experiences. We then arrange the whole thing together. We try to be open-minded and as long as we feel a connection about a certain riff and/or topic.

6. Where was your last gig?

At the Belvédère in Namur, Belgium

7. Where would you like to act?

A great milestone to reach for Cellar Twins would probably be the Graspop Metal Meeting.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

A dream feature would definitely be Alter Bridge, but there are tons of bands we’d like to play with.

9. Whom not?

There’s no one we really despise actually... A featuring is always a good idea no matter the band, there’s always something to get from it.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

There’s always a little anxiety, mostly coming from the will to give the fans what they deserve, but no real stage fright. We don’t feel terrorized before going on stage because we rehearse a lot in general and we only bring out a new song once it’s mastered. Also, as long as you believe in what you do and what you stand for you’ll be fine.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The answer is probably once again Alter Bridge. Myles Kennedy and his singing skills for Carl, and Mark Tremonti and his guitar skills for Jeff. Two great inspirations.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Like most bands, we mostly do public concerts, but we also did a few private ones. Once after a private concert, two women that could easily be qualified as cougars asked Carl for some “Cellar Treat”.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Obviously, we love them! The fact that people can relate and resonate to our art is incredibly gratifying for us. We have some hard-core dedicated ones! They follow us from live shows to social media to pretty much anything and we are so thankful for that!

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s very good and interactive! It gathers all the information you need regarding new and certified bands.

15. Something add?

We look forward to hitting the stage again. Hopefully, this pandemic will end soon so we can share our passion with you guys again!
