On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal/Rock band, The Last Element from The Netherlands. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
It came out that way! We were searching for a way to explain the driving factor behind our band,
our music has always been
very close to our hearts, we write about things that really matter to us, but that we believe also
really
matter to a lot of people. We were searching for a way to explain what could combine the
elements of,
hardship, love, trust, friendship and perseverance. That's when we decided all of these
combined could
be seen as: The Last Element – When we are together, we are stronger!
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
It's something all of us loved from a young age, for me personally I started listening to metal/rock at the
age of 5 years old, back then I decided I wanted to be a rockstar, didn't really think through how hard that
would be!
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Jan and Robert did, the rest of us didn't! Jan found Jasper on the interwebz and Noah responded to our
online shoutout for a new guitarplayer, in the end it all fitted like pieces of puzzles.
4. Each band member favourite band?
We don't really do favourite bands, we have our favourite bands of the moment, but there are so many
good ones. If we would do a quick shout out it would be:
I prevail, Spiritbox, Nothing More, Bring Me The Horizon. But yeah there are so many, if you check out
our spotify lists it just never ends.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
That would be life, simple as that, a lot of emotions arise from the daily, when I write lyrics it's always
inspired by real life events that I go through, some I've been through and some are happening, but mostly
I just write what pops up in my head. I need a pen and paper to clear my head, screaming and singing it
all out of my head when I record. In the end it's something we all face and we all have different ways of
expressing what we feel. I'm sure a lot of people can relate to the lyrics, cause honestly it's not about me...
it's about you.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was the support act of Skillet in Tivoli in Utrecht! It was amazing, the show was sold out and
the line was unreal... We had such a blast and skillet was such an amazing band to play with.
7. Where would you like to perform?
Can we just say everywhere? We want to do small/cosy venues and big festivals. Whatever will be
possible in the near future.
8. Whom would you like to perform with?
haha damn all these questions are hard... again we have so many bands that we like, but sound wise we
believe a good fit might be: Bring me the horizon, Normandie, I previel bands like that!
9. Whom not?
Folksingers?
No but seriously we are very open to all kinds of music, but yeah it's gotta to be a bit of a fit
right, can't put us up with deathcore or K-pop it would be a mismatch and a very annoyed crowd at some
point ;)! So we rather stick with some like minded bands.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Sure we did! We all had to start somewhere, nowadays it's not a big deal, we love what we do and in the
sun we come to life! But when we started damn it was scary, I remember my first time singing in front of
a crowd... forgot most of the lyrics had to make up some jibberish.. But a couple songs in it just felt better
and better, that's how it is. You have to get into it, once you are there i'm sure most of you will become
more comfortable. It's ok, your first shows are there to screw things up, no one will be judging you, I
mean you have the guts to be there right, not many do!
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Hmm again a hard one, in our genre it would be Linkin Park and Bring Me The Horizon, but we listen to
everything and even golden oldies can really inspire us. In the end we just try to make what we love not
trying to fit a certain mold or sound.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Nothing is weird, got some marriage and love proposals, but I always respond the same, the music we
make is a part of us, but it's not the only thing that we are, keep your head leveled, we are only humans.
But we as a band are very open-minded and love chatting with our fans, it's cool! We just some regular
joes as well.
13. What do you think of your fans?
They are amazing, we've gotten a lot of support and very kind words, people who really relate to our
music and love what we do. They really believe in us, that's the best feeling in the world. What we do is
not for us, it's for them and everyone out there who might like what we do, we just want to reach out!
14. What do you think of our site?
Put me on the spot.... I hate it.. naaaa kidding it's really nice! Love the track by tracks from artists and
been browsing the metal as fuck playlist for a bit, some really cool bands and epic sounds! Really love
that you guys are supporting the scene this way, a lot of small bands like ours really feel blessed to have
cool new talks and interviews! Also I learned that there are to many damn subgenres for me to understand
haha I browsed them and i'm like wait what?! is this real life?
15. Something to add?
Yeah! Thank you for the opportunity! We are currently working hard on our new single "cut it off" new
artwork and new pictures a new vid and the whole shabang! Anyone wanting to reach out, go ahead we
love to talk and mingle! You can always send us your love and regards to info@thelastelement.net
