Interviews: Mindwake

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Deathcore/Metalcore/Nu-Metal band, Mindwake from France. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Hey I'm Charley, the singer of the band. The band name was found by drummer Lou and our former bassist Joffrey smoking weed. Mindwake well represents the open-mindedness of the music and the excessive consumption of weed haha 

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We have been fans of Nu-Metal since our teenage years, we wanted to mix this style with modern metal and Mindwake was born. Mixes the aggressiveness and atmospheres of Nu-Metal and the heaviness of Hardcore / Deathcore

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

With the current line up, no! But when the band was formed we were all friends and we wanted to make a band together, everyone was new to their instrument and we wanted to evolve together and see what it could be like.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Charley: Emmure, Molotov Solution, Slipknot

Lou: System Of A Down, Nirvana, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, Cypress Hill

Loïc: Chelsea Grin

Dorian: Periphery, Ocean Grove, Thrice, Architects

Samir: Archspire, Necrophagist, Beneath the massacre, Anorexia nervosa, Cynic, Beyond creation

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The experiences of life, the music that we can listen to, the emotions, the conversations that we can have with people, a global analysis of the current world (For the lyrics), we are inspired by the bands that we love most

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at home, before the second confinement in France

7. Where would you like to perform?

All the places where there is a big scene and a very big sound haha I would love to play in Japan, it's one of my dreams

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

I would love to play with Korn, Periphery, Crystal Lake, Oceano I would like to play with all those who are cool and who don't play rockstar / poseur, people with whom we can have a good time and laugh

9. Whom not?

I dunno, as long as I play with cool people with good human values i can play with everyone

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I always get nervous before going on stage, I like being alone before starting the live and being confident with myself, it's time to give everything and shine, so let's go

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Slipknot, definitely ! Also Emmure and Molotov Solution haha, again and again

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A fan asked me if I was ok to have sex with minor.. Yeah, it’s very weird

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are essential to life and to sharing our music, I thank all the people who support us and who continue to listen and share our work, it is a pleasure to do everything better for our fans

14. What do you think of our site?

The site is pleasant to look at, I am amused and impressed by the number of genre and sub genre you have put hahaha
