Interviews: Sombria

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Dark Metal/Doom Metal band, Sombria from Greece/Mexico/Norway. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

''Sombria'' came up after a combination of factors. Sombria in spanish means somber/dark and that represents our music pretty well. Also Dimi our singer is half Mexican, so that helped quite a bit..

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

This is the music that all of us wanted to play for a long time. All our band members started their music path in metal playing on the ''extreme' side. Our love for the doom/melancholic genre has been something that led us to create ''Sombria'', a project that has marked us as and most importantly speaks to our souls.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we have known each other for a long time.

4. Each band member favourite band?

That's a difficult one... very difficult to choose. As our members' hide their identity completely apart from Dimi, what we can say as a whole is that our inspiration came after many music genres and we definitely wouldn't be able to choose only one band.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life for sure. Life dictates our music, experiences that we have all been through, suppressed emotions and lost memories. There are so many different things that inspire us, most of them tend to be on the ''difficult' side of life. Most of the music after all gets created after hard experiences that one has lived through.

6. Where was your last gig?

As Sombria is a new project, we haven't appeared live on stage yet. All our members though have had a very busy ''stage life'' but we cannot say more about it i'm afraid...

7. Where would you like to act?

Everywhere! Every single place is special to us, at the end of the day people make it special.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Again hard to answer.. There are so many outstanding artists out there that we had the joy of working with many of them, some very well-known and some others not that much. This though doesn't matter, as each individual carries something special and it's a joy and pleasure to get featured with unique individuals.

9. Whom not?

We don't have anyone in mind that we wouldn't like to be featured with.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Oh, stage fright is always present, no matter how many live appearances you have. Every artist handles it differently but what we can say is to get not only mentally prepared but physically as well as. The body follows the soul and the adrenaline is so powerful that it can affect you in many ways. After all we are athletes of the soul.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

That comes to the previous question. We have been inspired by many genres as we come from many ethnic backgrounds, this makes us incorporate small details from our personal unique music tastes. In general, we couldn't say that we got inspired by a certain band really.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A date!! haha

13. What do you think of your fans?

This is the reason we do all this for. We serve the people that listen to our music. There isn't a bigger pleasure than a happy listener.

You have been doing an outstanding job by promoting our favorite music genres! Thorough information and cool music material that absolutely catches the eye of the reader. Keep on like this!

15. Something add?

Lastly, we would like to mention that for us it is very important to share our music along with our beliefs. We would love to contribute as much as we can to social issues that have been ravaging our society. That along with our art is our main priority. Sombria after all means darkness, darkness that lives and haunts every human's life.
