Behind The Artworks: Onchocerciasis Esophagogastroduodenoscopy - The Rotted Plinth Of Sachiel (2021)

With the art for this record, we decided to work with Mei Maro. She is someone who's art I have long admired and only ever dreamt of working with. There's plenty of gore-y artists out there, but they're either a little generic or they don't have a sort of maturity to their art that we wanted. Her connection to traditional Japanese art was another obvious draw for us as a band, who are heavily inspired by many aspects of Japanese culture.. We didn't have a great deal of control over the vision of the piece, we sort of allowed Mei's imagination to run wild, with the only context being some lyrics and the track titles. Some bands might want much more control over the creation of their cover art, but we trust in the artists that we choose to do an incredible job, and they always have. If you get the chance to commission Mei Maro for art, absolutely go for it.
