Interviews: 2 Shadows

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal band, 2 Shadows from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the Idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band name 2 Shadows came from a philosophy that everyone has 2 shadows. One good, one evil. We loved the name and felt that it fits any type of song we release.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Every member of this band loves many different genres but metal just has a certain magic about it. Its is so powerful, emotional and has an energy that just seems to be unmatched by another genre. It also incorporated so many different elements, the possibilities for what a metal song can do and contain are endless, and there's creative freedom in that. I think for these reasons as young boys we just craved it and immersed ourselves into a lifelong passion for it.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes and No. We all moved to Vancouver Canada from our hometowns to pursue a career in music as Vancouver was the closest big music hub. Some of us came together by being introduced by mutual friends and some of us met from playing on the same bills with some of our past bands.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

I don't think any of us have a favourite artist. This world is full of so many incredible bands and amazing music. We could not pick just one.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Inspiration comes from everywhere, it's part of being a musician and artist; you see the world a little bit differently. Every experience, person we meet, life event, or world event, whether it be good or bad, leaves a mark on you that becomes a source of inspiration for a story you want to tell.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last performance was on June 2019 opening for a group called Hocico In Vancouver. It’s been way too long.

7. Where would you like to act?

Europe is definitely high on the list, being able to go overseas and tour would be absolutely amazing. There are so many cities and different cultures in such a small area, it would be really cool to experience.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

That’s tough and would strongly depend on the song. We could see ourselves listening to a new track and one of the guys being like, “Man I’m really hearing _______ voice here” and if we liked the idea we would reach out and see if it’s a possibility. All that being said, I think if we ever had the opportunity to do a song with Corey Taylor or Jonathan Davis someday… well those would be one hell of a memory.

9. Whom not?

We don't really think there is anyone we wouldn't want to feature or work with; if they were genuine in their approach and really wanted to make a killer song, we'd be open to just about anyone.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

We have never felt any major stage fright. Maybe a little pre-show jitters but as soon as our feet land on the stage that all fades away. That being said we have never been on an arena stage with an arena sized audience but we imagine when that happens it would be a gradual incline of crowds over years so it might not be so intimidating. Our biggest tip would be to just support each other and walk on to the stage as a team going to war.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

We are always finding new artists that inspire us and some of us have quite different tastes than each other but there are bands like Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold and In Flames that we all grew up on and I think they are staples that helped us become who we are today.

12. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

After a show, a fan asked if anybody could play piano. James (one of our guitarists) said that he could and she gave him the key. After about 15 minutes of stumbling through an Adele song on an old out of tune stand up piano, they figured it out. They struggled through the bridge because of a key change and eventually just skipped it. She sang to her boyfriend and wanted to do another but James had never heard of her next request. Not exactly the craziest story but one of the more randoms.

13. What do you think of your fans?

WE LOVE OUR FANS! We literally couldn’t do what we do without them. We have always strived to make our fans feel like they are part of a family no matter who they are and because of this we feel closer to them as well. The amount of support and love we get back is quiet heart warming.

14. What do you think of our site?

We think it's super cool! It looks like Breathing The Core really works hard to help bands get their names out. We sincerely thank you guys for that!

15. Something to add?

We are really feeling the love from the response to our new single “Screamworks” and we can’t thank our Fans, Record Label and Team enough for everything they have done for us! And a huge thanks to Breathing The Core for helping us get the word out!
