Interviews: Glasslands

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Post-Hardcore band, Glasslands from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

I really wanted a one word band name. There were countless other ones I came up with, but this one stuck out. There's no real meaning for the name, Glasslands. It just feels like it matches the music. Also, inadvertently, my favorite video game franchise (Halo) has a book called Glasslands. I didn't even think of it when I came up with the band name, but it was kind of a cool added bonus that I accidentally incorporated Halo.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

I didn't sit down one day and just decide to play this type of music. After years of not being allowed to write in my previous band, I started Glasslands as a creative outlet and just wrote what came out.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

When I started the band it was just me. Brandon and I had crossed paths on Warped Tour a few times over the years, but we didn't really know each other. Eventually when Brandon and I got connected, we realized we had been in close proximity for years prior. Jordan joined a year or so after Brandon, and those two had known each other from previous bands/tours.

4. Each band member favourite band?

This is difficult to answer, but a collective list would include: The Neighbourhood, Circa Survive, The Chariot, Joji, Don Broco, Alexisonfire, Bring Me The Horizon, 30 Seconds To Mars, Halsey, The Used, Underoath, As Cities Burn, Hanz Zimmer, The Blood Brothers, Architects, YungBlud, Radiohead & Tamino.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

It could honestly be anything. Lyrically, most of what I write is just about my life and what I'm feeling at the time. Sometimes i'll just hear a random sound (like a beat, a synth sound, a bird chirping or whatever), and i'll immediately have ideas in my head that i can't stop thinking about until i get it out.

6. Where was your last gig?

February 2020 in Orlando, FL. Who knew it would be at least a year and a half before we could play again.

7. Where would you like to act?

I mean, everywhere! I'd say Russia is high up on the list and all of Europe. Anywhere that will let us.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

I'd love to collaborate with someone like yungblud, Sub Urban or the ultimate dream would be Halsey. Jordan's list is more along the lines of artists like Snail's House and Dadi Freyr. I know Brandon would love to do a song with Chris Dudley.

9. Whom not?

We're open to collaboration if there's a mutual excitement and passion for the music.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I'd be lying if I said I never got stage fright, at least in the beginning. My first show I literally just stood in one spot and didn't look up from my guitar a single time. The only thing that really helps with getting over stage fright is experience. Just keep playing and you'll get used to it.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

For the new album specifically, our listening has been all over the map. Billie Eilish, Halsey, Architects, The Neighbourhood, BMTH, Hanz Zimmer, Linkin Park, Saint Cava, 30 Seconds To Mars, Blindside, Tamino and way too many more to list.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Oh man. Locks of hair, used kleenexes, signature to tattoo on them, to punch them in the face. We've been asked multiple times to keep a fan's shoes? Asked to go to their house to meet their grandma? Lots of weird things.

13. What do you think of your fans?

I truly don't even know what to say to show the amount of gratitude I have for our fans. Nothing would be possible if they weren't with us. Everything we're able to do and accomplish is because our fans continue listening and supporting us.

14. What do you think of our site?

The site is dope! Cool seeing so many artists from all over the world.

15. Something you'd like to add?

We appreciate the opportunity! Shout out FM Management and Velocity Records for being great partners. Shout out to our wives who support and believe in us. And shout out to our fans for giving us a platform to live out our dreams
