Interviews: As We Suffer

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hardcore/Metal band, As We Suffer from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Our drummer, Chris Nunn, presented the name to us as one he’d been thinking of for some time. We voted and it ended up being the most popular.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

It seemed the most universally enjoyed of all genres. We all enjoy a melange of many different heavy genres so metalcore seemed the perfect combination of all our passions.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, 4 out of 5 of us knew each other from childhood, Derik joined late in 2019 and brought with him a signature sound that unified the band musically.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Matt Caldwell: Machine Head

Ryan Caldwell: Pennywise

Derik Roblin: A Day to Remember

Chris Nunn: Propaghandi, (former member)

Jay Yocom: Strung Out.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

In general, once any one of us gets in the writing zone, it tends to be full of unbridled passion and the dedication that gets us through the writing process.

6. Where was your last gig?

March 2020, right before the lockdown, we did the Rebel Rock Search contest. It was an amazing night with another local band Triplemurder.

7. Where would you like to act?

We would love to do a national tour, coast to coast.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

There are countless bands we’d be honored to do a live show with and to collaborate with. Our favourite bands would be the pinnacle.

9. Whom not?

We wish not to speak ill of any band specifically. The only ones we wouldn’t want to work with are any bands that would be in stark contrast to our sound.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes, I was petrified for weeks leading up to my first show. The best advice I can give anyone scared of their first show is this. The fear is normal, work through it and the benefit will far outweigh the detriment leading up to it. However difficult, practice constantly and make sure you know the material, once you walk on stage, it will come naturally.

Machine Head, Tool, AFI, Propaghandi, Killswitch Engage, A Day to Remember, Pennywise

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To touch my dick. It wasn’t so much a request as it was a deliberate gesture while I was singing Invade the Host.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Love every one of them....except for dick toucher. We appreciate and love every one of our fans for the support and love they’ve shown us.

14. What do you think of our site?

Amazing! We thank you for helping promote both not-so-well-known and well-known bands.
