Interviews: Subliminal Landmines

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Garage Punk band, Subliminal Landmines from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It kinda just happened after a ton of brainstorming but here is the breakdown. So our songs all have some kind of message to them, some more symbolic and subliminal than the others so that's where the Subliminal part come in. The second part of the name is Landmines because with our catchy riffs and subliminal lyrics it blows people's minds and most of the time gets stuck in their head.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We play this genre because we all grew up listening to music from this genre plus we love the freedom of it. We aren't really restricted when it comes to writing or what to say. We pretty much can write about anything we possibly want, the opportunities are endless in the punk genre.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Nope! We all met each other at the time each member joined.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Grant - Green Day

Lee - Blink-182

Chris - Alkaline Trio

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Past or present emotions or experiences really fuel our writing process. It helps us to really connect more with everyone thats listening because everyone can interpret the songs in their own way and relate to them.

6. Where was your last gig?

The last show that we played was at The Pearl here in Lafayette, Louisiana back on March 5, 2020. We played this show right before corona hit locally.

7. Where would you like to perform?

We would love to be able to tour the UK at some point or even play a few shows up in Canada. That would be pretty sweet

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

We would love to perform with any of our influences for sure like Green Day, Blink 182, Alkaline Trio but even getting a chance to play with Rancid, Hot Water Music, or Anti-Flag would be awesome

9. Whom not?

Hmm, this is a difficult one but probably anyone completely out of our genre just because it wouldn't really go well together. (Country, Rap, Reggae, etc)

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I'm sure all of us at some point had to face stage fright but once you get past the fact that there is an audience its so much fun. Just get up on stage, relax, and have a good time playing the music you write or love to play.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Bands like Green Day, Blink-182, Rancid, Alkaline Trio have inspired all of us

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

At a show one time here in Lafayette, someone (she was under 21) kept asking Grant to buy her a drink and he kept saying no because he didn't know her and didn't want to get in trouble with the law but she just kept coming back to ask him. I think she asked him about 5 times before she gave up. She did buy some merch though so maybe he should have just took the risk and bought her that drink!

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love our fans, we really wouldn't be able to write or perform the music we love without them. Looking forward to playing a show and seeing the fans that show up is an awesome feeling.

14. What do you think of our site?

Pretty cool if we must say so! Definitely approve!

15. Something to add?

Our newest album 'Gibberish' is available everywhere for Stream/Purchase along with some new merch we just released available on Bandcamp. New show dates are coming so we will see you soon!
