Interviews: KARPENTER

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Metal band, KARPENTER from Italy. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Our band is Named KARPENTER in tribute to the Horror movies master director John Carpenter. We love horror and Sci-Fi movies, in fact, each lyric is freely inspired by places, contents and characters of many great movies.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Our genre is not chosen at the table, we play what we like and it comes naturally to us. Obviously, we are influenced by the bands we usually listen to. We are particularly influenced by the Scandinavian Melodic Death Metal sound, but each member has something different to bring. We share so many influences, moving from Punk-Rock, Nu Metal, Symphonic and Progressive Metal. Everything that has good melodies and groovy sounds.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Some of us have been friends for a lifetime, others for fewer years. We often shared the stage with our previous bands (Figure of Six, Fightcast, Creep).

4. Each band member favourite band?

It’s impossible to merge the tastes of six musicians into a single favorite band, so I’ll split the answers:

Michele: Nine Inch Nails, Faith No More, Mastodon and Gojira

Filippo: Of Mice And Men, Highly Suspects and Dark New Day Francesco: Pantera

Marco: Bad Religion, At the Gates

Federico: Guns N’Roses, Y.J. Malmsteen, Nevermore

Manuel: Slipknot and Parkway Drive

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Normally we start from a guitar riff and try to build around the right atmosphere and the right groove. When we have a verse and a chorus we think about the structure of the full piece. The voice is inspired by the sound and atmosphere and consequently also the keyboards. The lyrics are written afterward choosing the melody and the meter. At the end of the composition, all the arrangements are reviewed in order to achieve the perfect match and “feel”.

6. Where was your last gig?

We are a new band, during last two years we have been concentrated on the writing process of the album and we have been in the studio just before and after the first covid’s lockdown. So, the last concerts we played are with our previous bands. Personally, my last metal concert where I played was in London in December 2017, at Nambucca Liveclub.

7. Where would you like to act?

Any stage is the right stage for us. We need and we love playing in public. Obviously, we’d love to play in an open-air festival or as opener for some big names.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Any Bands or member of the aforementioned bands would be great

9. Whom not?

Who’s not willing to have fun in the backstage!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Stage fright is adrenaline. Adrenaline is known to cause pleasure. You should know that any tension and anxiety before the concert turns into pleasure during the performance. The five minutes before the live and the first five minutes of the live are actually the most exciting. These ten minutes are the price to pay in order to fully enjoy your live!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

We are mostly inspired by horror and sci-fi movies, anyway, In Flames, Amorphis, Mercenary, Raunchy, Soilwork were big influences for our music.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Probably the weirdest thing I remember is when a boy after the concert came up with his guitar and a knife and asked me to engrave my signature on his guitar.

13. What do you think of your fans?

People go to concerts to have fun; we hope to make you happy as we are to play for you!

14. What do you think of our site?

Amazing contents with many details for bands.

15. Something add?

If you like our music please support us by listening to the songs and give us your sincere feedback. It’s really important for us!
