Interviews: SILENT VEREDICT
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Death Metal band, SILENT VEREDICT from Sweden. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out
just like that?
Answer: Ricky Magnusson is the drummer. Johan Schill is the
guitarist. Mattias Gunnarsson is the Basist and Mattias Kulas is the Vocalist. It
was way back in 2009 when Ricky and his friend Viktor decided to start the
band and just played around with a few names. They both agreed the name
was pretty unique and while easy to understand still sparks a few questions
which is up to the onlooker to interpret. From there on it has stuck and we
don’t have any plans to change it.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Answer: We have listened to metal
sinc we were very young so this were the obvious genre for us to play! Just
love it!
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Answer: Ricky and
Johan knew each other some time before they started up Silent Verdict back
in 2009. Mattias played bass and Ricky played drums together in a band
called ‘Somehow’ and became good friends there. Mattias was later
introduced to Johan when it was time to ressurect Silent Verdict after the
band was put on hold. Our singer Mattias Kulas got to know the band when
he joined in 2016.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Johan: Children of Bodom
Ricky: Lamb of God
Mattias G: Kreator
Mattias K: Slipknot
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Mattias Kulas: It is
many things but my biggest inspiration as far as other lyric writers go,are
Corey Taylor from Slipknot and Randy Blythe from Lamb ofGod. However my
strongest inspiration comes from the songs themselves, they often give me
an emotion that I want to explore with my writing and sometimes I can even
picture a fictional story in my mind that I then try to solidify with the lyrics to a
song
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was a local gig we did at a
venuecalled Plan B in Tranås a small town an hour or so from where we live
7. Where would you like to act?
It would be really cool to play on
some ofthe biggest stages in the world and also on festivals like Sweden
Rock,Download, Rock Am Ring, Wacken and so on, anywhere bigger than
ourlocal venues would be a good place to start
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Ricky: bands like Lamb of
god, Metallica and Amon Amarth would be a dream for me.
9. Whom not?
Well we would say that all publicity is good publicity,
We will play with anyone beacuse we love it.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on
how to beat that?
We don’t know if anyone necessarily ever had
stage fright but we’ve of course felt nervousness coupled with excitment! For
us it becomes more like a high before going on stage and while performing. If
you suffer from stage-fright the best tip is just to plan ahead as much as you
can, practice a lot and don’t forget that the people that come to see you
(hopefully) want to be there. The biggest critic is yourself, so just relax and
take a few deep breaths and think that the worst thing that can happen is that
you forget to turn on your amplifier or something then just continue with a big
smile on your face! You’re not going to get lynched by the big crowd for small
mistakes.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Our biggest inspirations
are bands like Lamb of God, Arch Enemy and Kreator. We share a great
passion for melodic parts coupled with raw and straight forward rhytms with
some elements of thrash.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Shouting
requests during a release fest to show our dicks haha!
13. What do you think of your fans?
Our fans are the Best! It`s a
really cool feeling when you get on stage and you see all these fans cheering
for you! They have also shown us great support whenever we’ve played live
or dropped new songs.
14. What do you think of our site?
It’s very easy to navigate and a
great go-to place for metalheads that want to find new bands while getting a
little backstory.
15. Something to add?
Thanks for feauturing us on your site and
stay tuned for our coming full-length album 30.04.2021!
