Interviews: Anaria

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal/Rock band, Anaria from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Jessica Jackson-Salvucci: It came from the definition of "aria", specifically the phrase: "an accompanied, elaborate melody"... As a melodic band, we felt this was a perfect inspiration for what we are trying to accomplish! We mixed this with its article "an" and came up with "Anaria."

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Sergio Salvucci: There are so many different musical inspirations to draw from within the realm of rock and metal. We like being able to create music that is seamless yet explores a variety of these genres and subgenres within a song.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Jessica Jackson-Salvucci: Dan and I met in 2011 off of Bandmix with the intent to work together on a melodic metal style project. This eventually morphed into Anaria.

Sergio Salvucci: I started working with Jessica in 2016 on another music project, and Anaria was on hiatus at the time.

Jessica Jackson-Salvucci: I remember bemoaning the hiatus at the time, and Sergio was really interested in being involved with the project. We brought Dan back into the fold and needless to say, we all hit it off right from the start!

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Jessica Jackson-Salvucci: I really love H.I.M. and Ville Valo specifically; he is such a dynamic singer and performer, and I am a gothic girl at heart.

Dan Spinney: Avenged Sevenfold is one of my favorite bands because of their courage to be their authentic selves over time.

Sergio Salvucci: I love Wintersun because of their ability to fuse cinematic music with metal.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Sergio Salvucci: We are inspired by a myriad of life events, culture, movies, fantastical worlds and creative imaginations.

6. Where was your last gig?

Jessica Jackson-Salvucci: Our last show was in Providence, R.I. It was actually quite some time ago due to a number of factors! Do you have a tour schedule to share?

Sergio Salvucci: We do not have a tour schedule to share yet, but we hope to be touring in 2022.

7. Where would you like to perform?

Sergio Salvucci: We would love to perform at Wacken Open Air Festival.

Jessica Jackson-Salvucci: 70,000 Tons of Metal also looks like a blast!

8. Whom would you like to tour or work with?

Jessica Jackson-Salvucci: Not to be cliche in any way, but we would love to tour and/or work with Evanescence. They are a huge influence of ours and have really paved the way for women in rock in metal, and it would just be such a huge honor.

9. Whom not?

Sergio Salvucci: Anyone who isn't humble and doesn't appreciate the art.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Sergio Salvucci: Yes, practice!

Jessica Jackson-Salvucci: I am a very shy person normally, so overcoming stage fright is somewhat of a lifelong challenge. I have found that watching videos of your performances to study how you can improve really helps overcome some of the insecurities that can be associated with stage fright. Also: deep breathing exercises, maintaining your focus, and not overthinking the performance.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Sergio Salvucci: Two Steps From Hell, Within Temptation, and Lady Gaga are all inspirations for Anaria.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Sergio Salvucci: I once had a fan ask for the hat off my head during a solo.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Sergio Salvucci: We truly love them and appreciate their support.

14. What do you think of our site?

Sergio Salvucci: We really enjoyed browsing it, especially the extensive list of sub-genres!

15. Something to add?

Jessica Jackson-Salvucci: We truly appreciate the opportunity to be recognized on your website! Anaria has a lot of new releases in the works for 2021 and beyond, so be sure to follow us on Spotify, Apple Music, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and more for all of the latest news. Thank you again!
