Interviews: COLLECTED

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Metal band,
COLLECTED from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Artis: Pretty much came from the idea of unity and being one together, we all need to eat, breathe, need to be loved, we are all Humans and are the same and all that.

Haitch: Yeah, It just comes from that idea really. The band is almost like a ‘collected’ consciousness of the members thoughts, feelings and ideas etc. So it made sense for us.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Artis: I don't know, we all like metal and different genres that are unique to us, we like to jam at times and see what kind of vibe we can create. It's just fun to create energy through sound.

Haitch: For me, it’s definitely having something to channel all my passion and energy into. Metal is like no other genre. It’s such a good form of self-expression and a way to let go of everything while you are in the moment.

3.Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Artis: We met Liam through a local band and stole him, all from the same area, I've known Charlie since secondary school and met Haitch through Charlie from a jam at a studio, I've met everyone through music pretty much.

4.Each band member favourite band?

Artis: I've been into Bloc Party for the longest time, I'm loving Agent Fresco too.

Haitch: I´m loving Sleep Token and Mitch Murder at the moment...Maybe Joji. I believe Charlie’s favourite artist is probably Devin Townsend and for Liam I’d imagine he might say Coheed and Cambria, Letlive or Every time I Die.

5.Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Artis: The base of our songs are mostly written onto logic by our guitarists Haitch and Charlie, we all have different sources of inspiration between us like someone would be really into synthwave and someone else into Devin Townsend so we would merge it all trying to create fresh sounds. We have some songs like "Walking target" that were entirely written at a rehearsal space so we try different approaches to songwriting.

Haitch: So I usually for me, I get inspired by however I’m feeling at the time then I try to convey that into music someway or another but inspiration can come from anywhere to be honest. Sometimes I’ll just hear a song and ideas will start to come to mind.

6.Where was your last gig?

At "The Bassment" in Chelmsford.

7.Where would you like to play?

Haitch: Mine would be the Koko, but I heard there was a fire/renovations are going on. Would love to play there one day.

Artis: I’ve always wanted to play Underworld in Camden.

8.Who would you like to support?

Artis: Sleep Token, Agent Fresco, The Contortionist, Periphery for me.

Haitch: For me, I’d have to say Sleep Token as well. Don Broco, Fever 333.

9.Who not?

Artis: Any racist/homophobe/Transphobe/murderer/bad people (Die Antwood) - Artis

Haitch: What he said ^

10.Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Artis: Yeah of course at times I get hella nervous but I like to imagine it as if I am the guy onstage and everyone is there watching me play. It makes me turn my focus to the drums as the reason I play music is because I love playing my instrument, and everyone is watching me do my thing ha, makes me enjoy the moment for what it is.

Haitch: I’d actually have to say something the complete opposite to Artis here. For me knowing that I’m going on stage with not just 3 amazing musician but also my best friends really helped. Knowing that it’s not just gonna be me up there really did put my mind at ease as I know people wouldn’t be staring at me, they have 3 other people to look at.

11.What bands have inspired you the most?

Artis: Bloc Party, Lamb Of God and Metallica got me into music the most and playing the drums for sure.

Haitch: Pantera, Pink Floyd, Slipknot, Lamb Of God and Tenacious D were definitely massive inspiration during the beginning for me. They’re pretty much made me want to pick up a guitar.

12.What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Artis: Haven't really had any strange fan encounters, the only thing that I remember is some drunk girl asking me to come to hers when I got shit to unpack after a show and gotta travel to a different town, I was having none of it.

Haitch: I haven’t had any.

13.What do you think of your fans?

Artis: I love them all and would give them all a 10 second cuddle. I remember the first time we created merch for a show, we pretty much sold out on the same night and it was an unbelievable feeling for me, made me feel fuzzy and warm. I love everyone that has the time to listen to us, support us and watch us perform.

Haitch: I have mad love and respect for the people that supports us. They’re one of the main reasons we do what we do and I can’t stress enough that they literally make it all possible.

14.What do you think of our site?

Artis: The site is dope, I love how you notify the community of new releases of all sub genres and give interviews to upcoming bands like us. The "behind the artworks" concept is really cool too I dig it.
