Interviews: Next Stop Olympus

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band,
Next Stop Olympus from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We got the band name from Disneys Hercules, Conor was watching the film one Saturday whilst we were trying to come up with a name whilst he was having a couple of drinks it sounded like a good idea, dropped all the guys a message and we all agreed.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

It’s just the genre we all mainly listen too.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Matt knew everyone other than skips prior to the band and we met skips through a musician sight.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Conor - The Amity Affliction

Harry - Sigur Rós

Matt - Bury Tomorrow

Josh - Fit for a king / Bad Omens

Skips - Pantera

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Whatever we’re going through in life at the time and the music we’re listening to at the time play a part too.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig before the lockdown was in Southampton at Suburbia.

7. Where would you like to perform?

Download would be a dream for us.

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

If we could play a show with any of our favourite bands that would be amazing.

9. Whom not?

We won’t mention any names but we’ve played a show where we were the main support on a tour and the first two bands on we’ll never play with again, one of the bands threw a guitar into the headliners bass drum and damaged equipment early in the tour and the other band moved our Merch out of the way on to floor (even the headliners had a pop at them for that) and then actively tried to get people to leave after their set as well as both of the support bands leaving.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Matt: I do every now and then but once we’re actually playing it goes away and that’s the best advise I’d give, just try power through it and then as soon as you’re playing I find the fun of being of stage helps it all, just enjoy it.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

We all take some inspiration from what we’re listening to but we’ll always have to give a special nod to The Amity Affliction because that’s what started Matt and Conor off with the idea of a band years ago.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We’ve been asked for the usual stuff like drum sticks and picks and we’ve all been asked if we’re single at some point or another but we’ve not been asked for anything to weird… yet.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We’ve only had really good interactions with fans so far and that’s awesome, we actually had a French fan do a piano rendition of one of our tracks recently and that was really cool.

14. What do you think of our site?

We really like it, very well laid out and we like the fact you have all the different genres and sub-genres down the side and any site that takes time to work with up and coming bands are always good in our books.

15. Something to add?

Just that we’ve just released our brand new EP ‘Heart, Mind & Hell’ on the 9th April, go check it out at all the usual streaming services and music videos on YouTube.
