Interviews: Tormentor Bestial

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Heavy Metal/Thrash Metal band, Tormentor Bestial from Brazil. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

LUIZ: The idea came from a song written by KREATOR (band) called “Tormentor”; and “Bestial” was the name of our first “demo”. When it was release, fans started talking about us like “Tormentor Bestial”

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

LUIZ: We always liked the heavy sound, so we decided to mix hard rock with drop tuning (B tune). Then we made our sound formula

NIKO: We always liked heavy sound, and just we decided to do it.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

LUIZ: I know Cabral for a long time, and Thiago has always been our friend and has accompanied the band since the beginning.

NIKO: My dad, since I was born lol; other ones along time

CABRAL: I know Luiz since 1985… Niko, since he’s a little kid, and Animal about 10 years, I think so.

4. Each band member favorite band?

LUIZ: My favorites bands are KISS and Y.MALMSTEEN

NIKO: My favorite band is KISS

CABRAL: Traditional heavy metal bands, most important to me are: IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST, METALLICA, ANTHRAX, and a lot of others... It’s a really fucking big list.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

LUIZ: Inspiration comes from everywhere … When it comes I record everything and then we go on working.

NIKO: I follow the flow, put the drums line after everything is ready

CABRAL: There’s no a “regular formula”, sometimes we created a RIFF during practice… sometimes get a “mental idea” and try to play it on guitar... it’s just “rise”, then we work on it.

6. Where was your last gig?

LUIZ: At a “Open Air Event”, called “ROCK NA PRAÇA”, in our city – Taubaté (DEZ 2019), before the Pandemic.

7. Where would you like to act?

LUIZ: Anywhere; I really like to travel, meet new people, and have support. 

NIKO: the same

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

LUIZ: A dream would be perform live with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OZZY, JUDAS PRIEST.

NIKO: For me, with Black label society is an “enough dream for an entire life” lol 

9. Whom not?

LUIZ: I don't know how to answer, everything is legal and professional

10. Any of you have ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

LUIZ: Yes, lol - “get a sick feeling in my stomach” But this feeling is the most important part of the show. This makes us feel alive… at the stage, my advance is: “balance between concentration and fun …”

NIKO: Yes. A “little afraid” of making mistakes and everything going down in a “bad way” My tip is: “Concentrate in your instrument/performing, and take the show as funnie as possible”

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

LUIZ: Kiss, Whitesnake, Slayer, Y. Malmsteen, Black Label Society and Ozzy, Dio. 

NIKO: Kiss, Sepultura, Slayer, Y. Malmsteen, Black label society and Ozzy.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

LUIZ: So far I haven't had the “pleasure” to got/asked strange things. Of course, there are a lot of funny stories, but nothing that really “weirdest” lol

13. What do you think of your fans?

LUIZ: They are awesome, full support for everything we do

NIKO: They are spectacular

LUIZ: Awesome.

NIKO: Really Cool.
