Interviews: DARK REDEEMER

We have had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal band DARK REDEEMER from Italy. Check out the interview and follow the band on their  FACEBOOK PAGE. 

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Well, we had a couple of names to think about and you know, today, with the internet, an original, unique name it’s sometimes hard to find. We brainstormed a lot and DARK REDEEMER came out. I just loved the idea of a holy man transforming in its exact opposite.

2.Why did you want to play this genre? 

Because it allows us to unleash our energy! We love death metal and this kinda Swedish sound provides the basis for the attack.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? 

Yeah, the four of us played in DARK REDEEMER’S previous incarnation, ALEPH. We disbanded three years ago and reformed soon after so…we know each other quite well!

4. Each band member favourite band? 

Please be aware that the answer is doomed to be incomplete, for there’s so much music we like…but I’ll give it a try:

Dave (me!): Black Sabbath

Manuel (drummer): Slayer

Giulio (keymaster): Agabus

Ceres (bass): Pantera

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

It can be…whatever! From movies to history, from everyday life to books, to dreams. We are open to whatever we find on our way.

6. Where was your last gig? 

We last played together onstage when ALEPH performed its last show, June 2 nd 2018. This band is waiting to make its live debut and looking forward to doing so with this new incarnation!

7. Where would you like to act? 

WACKEN would be awesome, but the intimacy of smaller venues has something that goes beyond the mere numbers in the crowd.

8. Whom would you like to feature with? 

Obituary, Triptykon, King Diamond, Exodus and many many more…

9. Whom not? 

The other three band members (silly joke)!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that? 

It happened. It’s difficult when you’re zero experienced and it’s definitely something one has to deal with, teaming as a band, which in my opinion is the best possible way out of a nasty situation like that.

11. What bands have inspired you the most? 

Wow, long list…let me try. I would say Black Sabbath, Celtic Frost, Slayer, Morbid Angel, Carcass, Entombed, Dismember, Immolation, Dissection and I could go on and on and on…

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for? 

I was once asked to sign an autograph on another band’s cd…which I did.

13. What do you think of your fans?

I hope I will have the chance to tell you when the record is finally out!

14. What do you think of our site?

I think it’s well-conceived, full of content and it seems to me that you keep updating quite a lot!

15. Something to add?
