Interviews: DEFIANT

We have had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock band DEFIANT from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their  FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We wanted something short and to the point that depicted the feelings and energy we were trying to put across in our music.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We don't necessarily fit into a specific genre but a combination of all of our influences (punk, metal, hard rock) go into making what Defiant music is. It wasnt a conscious choice but just what comes out of our instruments when we play together.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We were complete strangers before we started Defiant. We met in online band help wnated ads or through mutual friends.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Al - Grateful Dead/The Descendents

Joe - The Misfits/Scoial Distortion

Paul B - Black Sabbath/Clutch/The Ramones/Kiss

Paul C - Metallica

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

A majority of our songs are inspired by either historical or current events whether it be a direct storyline or a feeling/emotion.

6. Where was your last gig?

We played the Tourist Inn in Hellam, Pennsylvania with Kickin' Valentina.

7. Where would you like to act?

We want to push our boundaries outside of our local area and play throughout the United States and wherever they will have us.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

So many bands...it would sound ridiculous to name them all. But playing with any of our direct influences would be an honor and a privilege.

9. Whom not?

Prefer to not name anyone specific but if you take yourself too seriously and have a "rockstar" attitude then we probably wouldnt match up well.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We all suffer from our own version of pre-show anxiety/nervousness. Nothing too over the top. Our recmemndation is to practice, preactice and then practice some more. When you know your material is ready, it helps alleviate a lot of the anxiety.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Any band that makes personal sacrfices to make and perform music from the heart inspires us. Whether that be a band playin in front of 50,000 people or 50 people.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Our logo file so they could get it tattooed on themselves.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We hate to use the word fan too often. They are friends and family to us at this point. And that is exactly what we think of them. They are loyal and keep coming out.

14. What do you think of our site?

Awesome site and a great way for underground artists to reach new audiences.

15. Something you'd like to add?

Thank you for asking us to do the interview. It was a lot of fun! Make sure you follow us on all of our social media!
