Interviews: TOXIC RUIN

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the  Thrash Metal band TOXIC RUIN from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their  FACEBOOK PAGE. 

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

One of the bands we were formed from was called “The Ruin” at the time. With the line-up change and the change in sound we decided to add the “Toxic” to it for a more Thrash feel. There’s no special meaning or anything we just thought it was metal enough at the time!  

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Because it’s the best genre! Ha! We all have different influences but where our interests meet is usually right in the Death/Thrash area. So, that’s just kind of how our writing comes out.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? 

Mostly not. Dave (drums) and Jake (guitar) were childhood friends since they were twelve. The rest of the band had not met until they walked into rehearsal with an instrument.

4. Each band member favorite band? 

Jake: Children of Bodom

Dave: Revocation

Stephen: Iron Maiden

Blake: Arsis

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

Anything and everything! We take inspiration from all of our favorite bands and genres, and even our not-so favorite artists! It really just comes down to riffs! We are a very riff-oriented band.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our hometown, Sheboygan, Wisconsin! We don’t play local often, but when we do it’s a party!

7. Where would you like to act? 

Everywhere for sure! But, Wacken Open Air is a dream of ours.

8. Whom would you like to feature with? 

The big ones for sure! Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Anthrax…. If we had to pick one though, it would definitely be Metallica. That would be insane!

9. Whom not? 

We don’t really have anyone on a no-play-list.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that? 

We all had some nerves in the beginning. You really just get over it with time and practice. There are still shows here and there where you’ll have the butterflies in your stomach if the crowd is big enough or we’re playing new material, but as soon as the first note is played, it’s game ON!

11. What bands have inspired you the most? 

Pretty much all our favorite bands listed above! Haha!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We have one fan in particular that is consistently asking to lick Blake’s butthole… We’re pretty sure he’s serious about it. That is definitely number 1 in the weirdest requests!  

13. What do you think of your fans? 

Love them! Without our tiny little following of metalheads, we wouldn’t be able to go the places we do. We are super appreciative of the insane support we get!
