Interviews: Trouble In Paradise

We have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Punk band Trouble In Paradise from Australia. Check out the interview and follow the band on their  FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It was originally the name of one our old songs but after much debate we felt it was more suited to be the name or our band. It was a reflection on the region we all grew up in, that the place seems like a paradise but there was always trouble brewing close by.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

It's the type of music that we all shared a common interest in. We each like our own specific genre more than others but this was the perfect way to bring them together and meet in the middle.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Harley (frontman) and Charles (Drummer) were in a couple of projects together beforehand. Funnily enough we met our now lead guitarist Max at the break-up show of our previous project but he didn't actually join Trouble until a year and a half after its formation. Andrew is the latest addition to the trouble family, we met him through mutual friends and local parties.

4. Each band member favourite band?

That's a tough one as it's constantly changing but at the moment they are:

Harley - Frankie & The Witch Fingers

Charles - The Mars Volta

Max - Blink 182

Andrew - Gorillaz

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life experiences have always been a big inspiration for us to write something. We've never been able to write a song on a whim but there was always a life event or something happening in our environment that inspired us to write something new.

6. Where was your last gig?

The Factory Theatre in Sydney

7. Where would you like to act?

We've always wanted to play at an Aussie festival like Splendour in the grass, Yours & Owls, Good Things Festival, or head overseas and play some venues in the States or the UK

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Doing something with Josh Homme from Queens of Stone Age, or Iggy pop or the boys from Violent Soho would be an absolute dream.

9. Whom not?

Don't think there'd be anyone in particular we wouldn't wanna feature with. We're all just a bunch of creatives doing our thing, so if a random pop star or someone we wouldn't usually be associated with asked us to feature, I'm sure we'd be down for it. Just as long as they didn't have a bad reputation or were known to have done some terrible unforgiving things in their lives.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

From Andrew (bass player) "I've had crippling stage fright most of my life. I still get it before shows a bit, but I used to absolutely hate the waiting around before a performance, it would eat me up on the inside to the point of just not even going on stage. For me it came down to learning to just accept what I had to do. Almost in a flight/fight sense; just accepting the fact that there is no way I can rationally avoid this now, I've practiced as much as I can, and now I'm going out there to have fun. Thats why we do this afterall, if i didn't enjoy it, I wouldn't be here."

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

I feel we are most inspired by bands that aren't trying to sound like someone else. Big game changers like: The Beatles, Nirvana, black Sabbath, The Doors, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Queens of the Stone Age, The Pixies,

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A fan once asked Charles if she could lick the sweat off his chest

13. What do you think of your fans?

We absolutely love our fans. Everyone has been so amazing constantly showing us support and always giving us good feedback on our music and shows. We wouldn't be taking it so seriously if it wasn't for them

14. What do you think of our site?

We really dig it. A nice variety of artists on there!

15. Something to add?

We're currently in another lockdown in Australia at the moment, but as soon as everything is in the clear again you all better believe we'll be heading back out and playing bigger and louder than we've ever played before!! Thank you so much!
