Interviews: Beneath The Void

We have had the opportunity to interview the Technical Death Metal band Beneath The Void from Hungary. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Akos: We used to be called Kill With Hate which is probably the most generic death metal band name you can think of. It was around 2006 maybe when our former drummer came up with it. It was basically a placeholder, we wanted to change it in 2008 when we were working our first EP, then when our first LP was recorded in 2012, but couldn’t come up with anything. But this time the album and our sound improved a great deal so we finally ditched the old name.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

A: For me it’s because I just love death metal, this is what I listen to and play the most. From oldschool stuff, like Death, Brutality, Eulogy, Disincarnate to name a few, to the modern bands, like Origin, Cryptopsy, Archspire. These all influence the stuff I write.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

A: No, we just vaguely knew each other from the scene, but got into the band through recommendations from our peers. Then we connected through music and working together.

4. Each band member favourite band?

A: For me it’s Death. It is my all-time favourite.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

A: It’s an inner drive from the love of the music and to make my mark in the death metal scene.

6. Where was your last gig?

A: Just this weekend (July 30 th ) in the city of Esztergom, Hungary.

7. Where would you like to act?

A: You mean where we want to play? Maryland Death Fest for example, it would be a blast!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

A: It’s always an honour to play as support band for our heroes. We had the opportunity to play with Cannibal Corpse for example here in Hungary, but going on a tour with some bigger band is definitely the dream!

9. Whom not?

A: I wouldn’t turn down any gig, but it wouldn’t make much sense to play with a band whose fans are not really open to this genre.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

A: It depends! Playing a usual gig in our home town for people I know personally is easy; playing in front of hundreds of people is always scary. Also if we have a new song in the set that we’re not very comfortable with yet, I’m always thinking all the ways we can screw the song up, lol. For beginners: practice your material, be prepared. Also if you fuck it up, probably no one will notice, so no worries.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

A: I think Origin and Cryptopsy made the biggest impact on our early sound with their breakneck tempos and blazing arpeggios. Of course, we give it our own spin on it.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A: Not sure if you could call her our “fan”, but a random girl wanted her tits signed in the Czech Republic.

13. What do you think of your fans?

A: Anyone who has the open mind and the time to listen to our music is awesome!

14. What do you think of our site?

A: Seems like a great place to find new music and a good opportunity for bands like us.

15. Something to add?

A: To anyone who read this far, you’re the fucking best! Thank you for the interview!
