Interviews: HOLLOW

We have had the opportunity to interview the Progressive Metal/Power Metal band HOLLOW from Sweden. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

HOLLOW was a good two-syllable word sound-wise. Maybe it’s a bit symbolic or metaphorical, indicating the void we all find different ways to fill in life.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I grew up with this music, with bands like Judas Priest, Accept, Queensryche and Crimson Glory. It came very naturally to choose the guitar. But it was always the music, never the band image.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, the first version of HOLLOW was all people who knew each other. Some from school, others as neighbors.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Right now HOLLOW is mostly a project, but over time the people involved have had different tastes in music. I listen a lot to bands like Soen and Bleed from Within. There’s a Lebanese band called Turbulence that I listen to a lot, too.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

World events and personal life, I’d say. My political and ethical choices, too.

6. Where was your last gig?

In HOLLOW the last gigs are decades away. But in other constellations, this summer. I hope there will be opportunities to perform HOLLOW’s songs live someday again.

7. Where would you like to act?

Festivals and smaller scenes.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Why not Queensryche? Their recent albums are great!

9. Whom not?

No answer on that one. I think any such experience could be rewarding.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

More when I was younger. Make sure you are as prepared as possible. And be realistic. Mistakes happen. You can always start over.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Crimson Glory, Sanctuary and Manilla Road.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Haven’t been approached with particularly wierd requests. Yet!

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are the best! Loyal, encouraging and patient.

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s great. Such a wide repertoire of bands! Keep up the good work!

15. Something to add?

Just this: Glad to be part of your site and all my best!
