Interviews: FRACTURES & OUTLINES

We have had the opportunity to interview the  Post-Hardcore band FRACTURES & OUTLINES from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We actually struggled to find a band name at first. We had full-on lists of potential names and we weren't originally able to agree on a band name. We eventually fell on "Fractures & Outlines", which comes from a line off of Aaron West and The Roaring Twenties' track "Get Me Out of Here Alive", and we thought it represented us well.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Because we enjoy the scene, the music in the genre, as well as the community. We want to play music we love, simple as that.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We have been through many lineup changes, but most of us knew each other from high school. We actually met Nick after making a post on Facebook looking for a singer. Mo is actually Math's brother-in-law and also joined later on.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Nick - Silverstein

Math - Avenged Sevenfold

Eric - A Day to Remember

Mo - Vulgaires Machins

Max - Killswitch Engage

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We write about anything that means something to us. We've written about our personal struggles and experiences, but also about the state of the world to us, the current sociopolitical climate, among many things we believe, are important to be talked about.

6. Where was your last gig?

Due to the pandemic, our last gig was actually a virtual show we did in June of 2020. It was very weird to give a performance in front of cameras instead of a crowd. We can't wait for things to go back to normal and play an actual show!

7. Where would you like to act?

Literally anywhere. Would love to tour across the world if we could!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Any band that inspired us to do this. Either our biggest influences or even our favorite bands!

9. Whom not?

We wouldn't really turn down a gig with anyone unless it's known they're terrible people. Let's go with Trapt, Marilyn Manson or Smash Mouth!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We all do at some point! Nick gets nervous farts every time! The best way to beat stage fright on our end is to have fun. No one cares if you make a mistake, as long as you have fun and aren't hard on yourself you'll give a good show.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Definitely bands such as Silverstein or A Day to Remember; bands that have been doing the dirty work for years now and are still going strong. We hope to last as long as those guys.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We've had someone request we write them a whole song. It was awkward having to try to explain that's not really something we do and that our song talks about things that mean something to us. I'm not saying we wouldn't write about our fanbase, but it would be weird to just start writing about people individually if you catch my drift.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They're the best. The few, but the loyal! Always supporting us, no matter the direction we take musically. We really can't complain.

14. What do you think of our site?

A great outlet to keep up with the music scene and discover new music!

15. Something to add?

We just wanted to thank you guys for the interview, and would love if our readers would check out our latest single Vultures! It's one of our best tracks yet and is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what we will be releasing in the future.
