Interviews: Saves The Witch

We have had the opportunity to interview the
Progressive Rock/Shoegaze/ Instrumental Post-Rock band Saves The Witch from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name was born out of the idea that we should embrace our differences with each other.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I've always admired bands and artists that “say more with less”. I've always been a fan of a good movie score too, and theatrical elements in music.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I had known a few guys I was trying to get back together with before, but we played a more traditional genre, and this project was made after that fizzled. It's just me now.

4. Each band member favourite band?

I love Coheed and Cambria.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Some of the traditional things like those we love, and also some more complex type of feelings and thoughts that is hard to put into words. Hence this is sort of my outlet for that in many ways.

6. Where was your last gig?

This project isn't touring right now, so it's been a good while!

7. Where would you like to perform?

One day it would be fun to revisit the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville and do a stripped down version of something.

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

Coheed, Covet, This Will Destroy You, And So I Watch You From Afar. Probably a ton of others

9. Whom not?

I'm pretty open really.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I think everyone handles that differently. For me I'll get real nervous right up until the first note is hit, and I sort of instantly settle in and just feel really euphoric after that.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

This particular project was inspired a lot by post rock groups I found, some of the progressive elements by some prog rock stuff I listen to. I already mentioned them but I think I take some inspiration by Andy McKee as well. I've been a fan of his a long time.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

When I was playing for a different band I had one asked me once to spit into their hand. I have no idea why, I just laughed it off. Sometimes people just get crazy at shows, it happens.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Uh, that they're awesome

14. What do you think of our site?

Badass logo first of all! I always think it's great when sites are trying to help expose some of the great music out there. It's hard to cut through the noise and reach people, and I imagine it must be just as fun for you guys to get to explore all the music and talk to so many people; as it is to play the music itself.

15. Something to add?

I appreciate your time! I just had a single come out called “Dear Edea” that's doing well. They'll be another along shortly. Anyone interested all the links are at savesthewitch.com
