Interviews: STRATUZ

We have had the opportunity to interview the  Doom Metal/Death Metal band STRATUZ from Venezuela. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name of the band is a play on Latin words, we were looking for a name that was neutral between good and evil and Stratuz gave us that identity.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We have never proposed a specific genre, as each composition has its own soul, however, we have always wandered between Death and Doom.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, the first formation of Stratuz took place among neighbors in the neighborhood, I joined in the middle of '86 and then I moved very close to them, so we have always been a family.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Banco de Mutuo Soccorso, Premiata Forneira Marconi, Uriah Heep, Pink Floyd, Cirith Ungol, Blue Oyster Cult, Witchfynde, Slayer, Exodus,Infernäl Mäjesty, Venom, Bathory, Mercyfull Fate, Demon

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The inspiration comes from human nature and its existential trance, the lack of justice, the manipulation of the masses from the political and religious spheres.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last tour was in 1998 with Centinex from Sweden and Anasarca from Germany, through Spain and Portugal, then we were in Holland visiting some compatriots (Laberinto) who gave us accommodation and sustenance and we closed the tour in the city of Köln- Germany. After that, only local shows in Venezuela with Avulsed from Spain and Acheron from USA to celebrate our 15 years on stage.

7. Where would you like to act?

In every space where we can bring our music and share it with the public.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

With Paradise Lost

9. Whom not?

With fake people

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes of course, it's a feeling that with time one manages to control but it will always be there, maybe this is also due to the commitment that one has with others, one has all the desire that the show goes as well as possible and people expect the same from a band, the advice we can offer is to channel this feeling as energy and learn to manage it in favor as it will always be the trigger in every show.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Black Sabbath, Slayer, Venom, Mercyfull Fate

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Marriage

13. What do you think of your fans?

We have met many brilliant people and listening to them is gratifying and enriching, because they aren't empty heads. We like this because we are talking about people who seek to improve themselves, to grow personally and professionally without being manipulated, they are clear about where they're going and this makes us proud.

14. What do you think of our site?

I was browsing through your site and it seemed to me quite nourished since you embrace other lines and musical proposals, this allows to eliminate these virtual borders that the only thing they achieve is to divide and harm.

15. Something to add?

Stay tuned for our next album "Osculum Pacis" which will be released through Sliptrick Records worldwide in the coming months.
