Interviews: Void Collapse

We have had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal/Deathcore band Void Collapse from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or just came out like that?

My friend Brian who I was jamming with were trying to come up with a name for weeks. Nothing was working, and I tried everything. I was watching Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and he explained a Void Collapse while sinking in quick sand. I thought it sounded good, and ran it past Brian. He approved, so here we are.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Because I’ve loved it my whole life, and wanted to be a part of it. Death Metal has always been what I wanted to play, and make albums for. I’ve listened to it since I was a kid.

3. Did you know each other before you formed the band?

Nope, I was looking for drums, and was trying to decide if I wanted to use programmed drums. I really wanted a real drummer though. I found Shane on a message board offering session drumming. I got a hold of him, and we hooked it up.

4. Each member’s favorite band?

I like Converge, Zao, Cryptopsy, and Cannibal Corpse. Shane likes Defeated Sanity a lot. Those are some of our favorites, but there are so many

5. What inspires you to write music?

Fantasy novels/the Bible for lyrics, and subject matter. If a band releases an album that gets me pumped, I get super creative, and get working to make my own visions come to life. Also, other things in life, or life stuff. That’s sort of in the under current of what’s going on in the albums.

6. Where was your last gig?

Unfortunately, we’re not a live band. Too many obstacles in our lives. Shane lives in Texas, and I live in Michigan. I’m 42 with two 10 year olds, and I work full time. Shane might be more into it now, but I think he has a full time job too now. It’s just a near impossible situation.

7. Where would you like to perform?

In the studio by myself. Haha, I’m kinda a shut in.

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

If we played live, Waking the Cadaver. There are a ton of bands though. There aren’t many we wouldn’t play with. Any genre would be cool.

9. Whom not?

I don’t know, I don’t really think about stuff like that. Lol

10. Any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

I do a lot. That’s another big reason that I don’t perform. Plus I’ve never been into performing. I’ve always been more into the recording side of things

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The Beach Boys, Nile, all sorts of bands. The new Halsey record is what I’ve been listening to all week.

12. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has asked for?

My autograph. Lol, not that it’s weird, it just never happens, and then it happened once, I was like “what the heck!” Lol

13. What do you think of your fans?

The ones that have expressed their interest have been great. So, if you listen thanks so much.

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s great, this is the second time you’ve had us, and we really appreciate it.

15. Something to add?

Our newest album Gwenda came out a month or so ago, and we’re really proud of it. Please chit out if you get a chance.
