Interviews: Hail The Horns

We have had the opportunity to interview the  Metal band Hail The Horns from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or come out just like that?

Well before Metal Allegiance Marc Rizzo played in a cover band that started at NAMM called “Hail” which featured Jason Bittner on drums, David Ellefson on bass & Ripper Owens on vox which eventually became MA. Rizzo dropped out due to other obligations so when it was time to think of a band name for this, Opus wanted a one word band name & like Hail but they obviously couldn’t use that so Marc & Tony suggested “Hail the horns” since heavy metal features the dio devil horns 🤘!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Well, it’s the genre that all three of us already play & are known for so it just makes sense overall.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, Marc & Tony played together for a bit in Soulfly. Marc also has played with Opus prior to Marc’s solo project & also with Opus’ other band Dead By Wednesday in the past & has a long history of working together in the business as well.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Well, we all love Metallica, but Marc loves Overkill, Tony & Opus loves Kiss, & Black Sabbath of course because without Sabbath, the God fathers of heavy metal, there would not be any bands we enjoy like Van Halen, Pantera, Metallica, etc.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

This is mostly a cover band playing all of our back catalogs of music that we’re known for plus some of the metal classics that inspired us but maybe down the line like metal allegiance, we too will write something original material. What inspires us is simply everything around us… the world, current social affairs, other bands, music & comrades in the business, people, anything really. Songs come from emotions so whatever we are feeling at the time.

6. Where was your last gig?

We are playing our first gig together on Nov. 11th so we haven’t played together as a full band yet live so we can’t wait!!!! All of us have been playing in other bands & projects though since.

7. Where would you like to act?

Not sure what this question means? Sorry haha

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Would love to open up for any larger acts that would want to have us on their tours. Overseas would be great too!! Maybe our friends in Flotsam & Jetsam or Overkill??? Hmmm

9. Whom not?

Well Soulfly, for obvious reasons, lol… (use google).

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Never suffered from stage fright but we’ve all been doing this for decades since we were super young & I can honestly say to this day we still always get a little nervous before going on. I think that’s a good thing & healthy & if you don’t any longer then something is wrong because it shows you care!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

So many bands are inspiring…. Again the good fathers of heavy metal Black Sabbath because with out them there is no genre we play. But so many bands inspire us… too many to list… Metallica, Sabbath, Overkill, Megadeth, Pantera, Sepultura, the list goes on & on.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Hmmm, the weirdest thing is probably hand job. Needless to say, it didn’t happen…Hahahaha…

13. What do you think of your fans?

We all absolutely LOVE our fans & anyone who supports live music nowadays! Without you guys, we are NOTHING! So Thank You 🙏

14. What do you think of our site?

I think it’s dope! Love the way it’s set up, very pro-looking. Thank You for having us :) we appreciate you.

15. Something you'd like to add?

In this day & age, just always try & stay positive… keep your head up… help others if you can because that shit comes right back to you. Remain humble, work hard, never give up or give in, & persevere!!
