Interviews: Indemon

We have had the opportunity to interview the  Thrash Metal band Indemon from Finland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Patrik: I was sitting by myself somewhere in Helsinki and just going through different names for this "project" started by Santeri and myself. I wanted the name to be something specific and, well, cool, like just one word, so that it would be easier for people to remember. I was literally saying names out loud, "demonizer" , "demoner" and thinking "fuck, not good enough". Then it just kinda hit me out of the blue - Indemon. And that stuck with me from the very first moment. Needles to say, we went with Indemon.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Santeri: It's the music of our childhood, our musical roots are deeply in metal, especially thrash. That's where it all comes from. We as musicians have played in many different projects before Indemon that haven't always been metal. I started with metal and probably I'm gonna always play heavier stuff, it's what we enjoy the most.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Patrik: Yes, we are familiar with each other from past projects, but Indemon is the one where the chemistry and balance is just right between all members.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Santeri: Kotiteollisuus, a Finnish heavy band that people outside Finland probably haven't heard of.

Patrik: I'm a huge Metallica/Slayer fan myself, big, big fan of those two bands specifically. I know Joose is a massive Guns 'N Roses fan and our bass player Sasu (Savolainen) worships Iron Maiden.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Santeri: Life, other musicians, and music.

6. Where was your last gig?

Patrik: We played a jammed packed gig in Kerava, Finland. Good to be finally back on stage after this covid bullshit.

7. Where would you like to act?

Patrik: Ideally, all kinds of venues in Europe, summer festivals, you name it. We are hungry and ready for the road. There's nothing more we would like to do than share our music and message to the metal community.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Santeri: I really don't care. As long I just get to play my music live.

Patrik: I'm a sucker for these questions, hah. Supporting Slayer maybe? Or perhaps opening for legendary bands like Sepultura and others of that nature. One can dream, right?!

9. Whom not?

Santeri: Can't really think of any. Music is music.

Patrik: A gig is a gig.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Santeri: When I was younger, I had stage fright, but nothing crazy. The only advice I can give is to just go out and face the audience and play your music.

Patrik: I've always been comfortable on stage, but obviously I also get the butterflies before any gig, no matter when and where. Just like Santeri said, simply play your music and enjoy the moment on stage because it goes by so fucking fast.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Santeri: Oh, where to start... well the foundation was definitely laid out by playing a cover of South of Heaven by Slayer when we were 12-13 year olds with Patrik.

Patrik: There are countless bands but we're gonna both answer SLAYER for this one.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Santeri: One time after a gig, this one guy from the crowd approached and claimed that I had once babysit his kid or something like that. I've never met this dude ever in my life before. Somehow he got a hold of my number and started giving me calls while being absolute black out drunk. Definitely one of the weirdest "fan" interactions ever.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Santeri: Fans are the most important thing for any band. Fans make it happen.

Patrik: Well, obviously it goes without saying that any kind of support shown to us from fans or music listeners in general is greatly appreciated. We value every single face in that audience.

14. What do you think of our site?

Patrik: Breathingthecore.com is the place to be! You guys rule.

15. Something to add?

Patrik: Check out our debut EP "Fear of Living" coming out on March 18th via Music Records France. Heavy thrash for heavy people!
