Interviews: HELLFOX

We have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Metal band HELLFOX from Italy. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or come out just like that?

The name of the band came out just like that, it obviously has a meaning, but we didn't think too much about it, one day it popped out of the head of one of us, and we all liked it right away. We felt it was the right name for us. It has a reference to the Nordic deity Hel, which represents well the dualism as we want it to be understood from our songs, and the fox is seen as a feminine and wise animal.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

The genre we play represents the mix of music influences from all four members of the band. Gloria says "I've always loved this genre and I think it's very exciting and challenging."

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Greta and Priscilla know each other since adolescence, but Gloria and Federica have been found by Greta for the completion of the band. Now we are very bonded, we love spending time together both working and having fun.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Greta: In Flames

Priscilla: Black Sabbath

Gloria: Amorphis

Fedy: Led Zeppelin

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

It's funny because most of the times Gloria plays a riff, she suddenly forget about it and Priscilla plays it again to consolidate the rythm and then Gloria says "wow that's a great riff!", and Priscilla replies "Of course, you played it 3 minutes ago!". It's absurd. Sometimes Priscilla and Gloria just feel the same thing and feel very bonded, and in those moments they know they have to write: just some wine, pain and creativity. When songs are ready it's Federica that perfects the songs. The lyrics are written by Greta, she writes in "her own personal language" and then all together we translate the songs in English.

6. Where was your last gig?

As hellfox we didn't play together. Our first gig is on the 21st Jan 2022, just the exact day of the Album release.

7. Where would you like to act?

We would like to play at the main European metal festivals.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

It would be a dream to feature with Deathless Legacy, we love them!

9. Whom not?

Just not with bands and people who don't respect others.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Gloria: "Not stage fright, bur BIG stage fright since I'm not used to it yet. The tip is to be yourself and thinking that you are doing what you really love."

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

In Flames, Amorphis, Dark Tranquillity, Black Sabbath and Insomnium.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Someone asked if Gloria's Guitar was real... Of course, it's real, it isn't made of cardboard!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Right now we have a lot of supporters and we have a few fans from overseas. Obviously we are just born as a band and we are not well known yet, but those who follow us are very close and write to us often.

14. What do you think of our site?

Give bands and art room to express themselves, it's a valuable thing! Is also very well organized, it is pleasant to navigate.
