Interviews: Bonnie

We have had the opportunity to interview the Rock/Pop/Soul artist Bonnie from Switzerland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or come out just like that?

BONNIE: That’s easy – BONNIE is my name and at the same time the name of our group.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

BONNIE: As a fact, my songwriter Hoffi and I decided at the very beginning, always to write and to perform what we like. That means, we are pretty open concerning “style”. We name our sound “Vintage Soul and Roll” – that means a mix-up of Rhythm and Blues, Pop, Rock, Singer / Songwriter. Priority is that the combination between music, lyrics and my personality works.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

BONNIE: Back in the days, Hoffi and I worked in a institution for people with a handicap. He showed me some guitar-chords for a daily singing routine. After a while he said: girl – you got talent – so let’s start a band. Since that day we recorded 4 full albums, 4 EP’s several singles and videos and played up to 250 shows in Europe.

4. Each band member favourite band?

BONNIE: There are so many… I love a lot of girl singers like Amy Winehouse, Cher, Imelda May and the likes. Smart girls who went their way. Hoffi’s favorites are The Beatles, Vintage Trouble, King’s X and John Hiatt. But as said… there are so many gifted people in different styles around. The all deserve respect.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

BONNIE: We are inspired by the artists we love and – even more – by life itself. Every moment you can meet a person or an adventure that inspires you for a song.

6. Where was your last gig?

BONNIE: That last show we did so far was end of December 2021 – an industrial show for an enterprise. There are not many gigs around at the moment due to the pandemic – situation.

7. Where would you like to perform?

BONNIE: When we started, we fixed the target to play in Las Vegas some day. But we also would take Hollywood Bowl

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

BONNIE: We would like to go on tour with Vintage Trouble or with Cher. She is unique.

9. Whom not?

BONNIE: As mentioned, we respect most of the artists. But we sure would not join a nazi – tour.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

BONNIE: I am nervous before every show – I don’t think that this is a bad thing, because it sets you in the right mood to give your best on stage. To prevent it helps to be well prepared, to have good mates in the band and a nice drink.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

BONNIE: It was Imelda May who inspired me most in the beginning. As we found our own style as a band, there came up a number of bands that we are influenced by. As said Vintage Trouble, Amy Winehouse and the kind of bands, who got a touch of soul in music.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

BONNIE: Some guy wanted to kiss my feet after a show… what an experience.

13. What do you think of your fans?

BONNIE: We are nothing without our friends and supporters!

14. What do you think of our site?

BONNIE: I didn’t know “Breathing the Core” before. I am excited to find new, fresh bands and sounds on your platform! Clear layout – nice to visit!

15. Something to add?

BONNIE: First of all: thanks a lot for the interview!! It was a pleasure! …and please check our new Song “8000 Miles” on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45tMK-cqQvI
